In a heartwarming gesture marking the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations, kakalistiq.com reports that Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru distributed over 8,500 food packs to households across the Lagos East Senatorial District. Beneficiaries from the 16 local governments and local council development areas of the district gathered in excitement at distribution centres within their communities, grateful for the timely support.
In a statement released by his Media Aide, Mr. Olukotun Eniola, today, June 13, 2024, it was noted that this benevolent act comes just 90 days after Senator Abiru shared over 10,000 food packs with residents, particularly those most vulnerable, in celebration of his 60th birthday.
Senator Abiru, who chairs the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance, and Other Financial Institutions, and the Southern Senators’ Forum, reiterated his unwavering commitment to enhancing the quality of life for his constituents through meaningful legislation, programs, and interventions.
“Understanding the current economic challenges, especially the high cost of staple foods during this festive season, I urge our people to remain patient with the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The far-reaching policy decisions being made will soon start yielding positive results,” Senator Abiru assured in his Sallah goodwill message.
He expressed optimism that the Food Pack Programme would alleviate some of the hardships faced by Lagos East residents, complementing the federal government’s efforts to ensure food security, stabilize commodity prices, and support from the state government under Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu.
“This initiative aims to bring smiles to the faces of our residents during Eid-el-Kabir and ensure that they can celebrate joyfully with their loved ones,” Senator Abiru added.
Senator Abiru’s humanitarian efforts are not new to the constituents. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he disbursed over N150 million to more than 2,500 vulnerable individuals through his Financial Relief Scheme, providing monthly credits of N5,000 each over 24 months.
Beneficiaries of the food pack distribution were effusive in their gratitude. One resident, Amina Oyekan, expressed, “Senator Abiru’s generosity has made a significant difference in our lives, especially during these tough times. We are deeply thankful for his continued support.”
As the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations continue, Senator Abiru’s commitment to his constituents remains clear, demonstrating that even in challenging times, compassion and community support can shine brightly.
