Kakalistiq.com reports that the King Kosoko Memorial Lecture, organized by the Lagos royal family to honor the late King Kosoko of Lagos, is set to take place tomorrow, Sunday, September 8, 2024.
In a press release by the media consultant to the Oloja-Elect, Kunle Adelabu, the event will be held at 1:00 pm at Glover Hall, Lagos, with the theme, “The Lagos Economy in the Era of King Kosoko: A Tale of Prosperity and Decline.”
Mrs. Lola Ade-John, the Honourable Minister for Tourism, will be the Special Guest of Honour at the event. The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, and his Deputy, Dr. Kadiri Obafemi Hamzat, will serve as the Chief Hosts.
A highlight of the lecture will be the unveiling of a new book titled, “King Kosoko: His Life, His People, and Settlements: The Hidden Facts,” authored by Prince Abiola Kosoko, the Oloja-elect of Lagos. The unveiling coincides with the 163rd anniversary of King Kosoko’s return to Lagos with his lieutenants and marks the third edition of the celebration organized by the King Kosoko Royal Family.
The event will also feature the debut of the royal family’s anthem as part of the weeklong activities commemorating the anniversary.
Distinguished royal fathers, including His Royal Majesties Oba Rilwan Osuolale Akiolu, the Oba of Lagos; Oba Olufolarin Ogunsanwo, the Alara of Ilara Kingdom; and Oba Shefiu Olatunji Adewale, the Olu of Epe Kingdom, will grace the occasion. The flamboyant Erelu Abiola Dosumu, Erelu Kuti IV of Lagos, will be the Mother of the Day.
Prominent personalities and seasoned scholars set to participate in discussions include Pa. Lateef Olufemi Okunnu, SAN, CON; Pa. Tajudeen Olusi; Prince Fuad Alade Oki; Hon. (Chief) Oyinlomo Danmole; and Her Excellency, Alhaja Sinatu Ojikutu, former Deputy Governor of Lagos State.
Prof. David Aworawo from the Department of History and Strategic Studies, University of Lagos (UNILAG); Prof. Adewunmi J. Falode from the Department of History and International Studies, Lagos State University (LASU); and Prof. Sanni Habeeb Abiodun, a member of the Isale-Eko Descendants Forum, will present papers during the event.
