In a significant step toward improving the socioeconomic landscape of the Poka community in Eredo LCDA, kakalistiq.com reports that Rep. Wale Raji has today brought his promise of supporting small and medium enterprises to life.
The historic Pobo market, named after the wife of the community’s progenitor Urakaloye, is now undergoing a complete reconstruction, much to the excitement of local traders.
“It’s truly a dream come true for us,” said one trader, beaming with joy. “This market means everything to our community, and seeing the construction begin fills us with hope for better business opportunities.”
The market, a symbol of the community’s economic vitality, quickly became a hub of activity as construction crews were mobilized to begin work on the foundation. Engineers at the site meticulously lined and pegged the foundation and started the digging process, ensuring the new stalls will be built to last.
Located centrally within the community, the market will host both local and modern businesses, serving not only Poka but also neighboring areas such as Odomola, Iraye, Odogbonle, Odo-Egiri, Imokun, and Odo-Noforija. The market will also meet the needs of nearby hospitality businesses, academic institutions, and healthcare facilities.
Ably represented by notable stakeholders, Rep. Wale Raji, known for delivering high-quality projects in his constituency including markets in Mojoda and Ito-Ikin and the ongoing Aiyetoro Market which is at an advanced stage, was joined by political stakeholders and members of his Think-Tank Committee to witness the progress.
Reacting in a statement, Rep. Wale Raji noted: “I assure everyone that this project will be completed on time. All necessary logistics, including funding, have been sorted. This market will not only benefit our traders but will also be a testament to the power of good legislative oversight.”
In preparation for the construction, the legislator had previously engaged with market stakeholders. This collaboration resulted in a smooth transition, with traders temporarily relocating to another section of the market.
