Fadhilah Sheikh Alhaji Ashalejo Turbaned as Vice President of League of Imams & Alfas in Epe Division

In a significant religious ceremony on Sunday, March 2, 2025, kakalistiq.com reports that Fadhilah Sheikh Alhaji Serifdeen Ashalejo was officially turbaned as the Vice President of the League of Imams & Alfas in Epe Division. The event was conducted by the Grand Chief Imam of Epe Division, Fadeelatul Sheikh Alhaji AbdulRahmon Sadalla, highlighting the deep-rooted history of Islam in the town. The Ibonwon Central Mosque holds a special place in this legacy, being the first Central Mosque in Eredo LCDA and the second in the entire Epe Division.

Hon. Ismail Akinloye, Chairman of Eredo LCDA, expressed his commitment to the Muslim community during the ceremony. “The first central mosque in Eredo LCDA is in Ibonwon. Any planned program should include me in the planning committee,” he stated. He emphasized the importance of preserving Islam, saying, “Islam is from Allah, and the first book of religion is the Quran. It should not deteriorate in our hands.” Hon. Akinloye extended his gratitude to the people of Ibonwon and the Imam, acknowledging the Imam’s role as “the pride of Lagos State.” He also thanked the entire Muslim community and visiting clerics, praying for continued success in their religious endeavors.

Grand Chief Imam of Epe Division, Sheikh Sadalla, took the opportunity to wish all Muslims a Happy Ramadan. He reaffirmed the historical significance of the Ibonwon Central Mosque, stating, “It is the second central mosque in Epe Division and the first in Eredo LCDA.” He urged Muslim brothers and sisters to remain patient and prayerful during Ramadan. Addressing community concerns, he praised the effectiveness of collective prayers, particularly regarding security, noting that individuals involved in cable theft had been apprehended following divine intervention. “We prayed before Ramadan that God should arrest them if they do not stop, and indeed, they have been caught,” he declared.

Alhaji AbdulHafeez Awesu delivered a lecture on ‘Unity and Brotherhood in Islam.’ He emphasized that unity in Islam fosters an affectionate bond for the sake of the Creator and ensures the pursuit of common goals for the Ummah. “Brotherhood in Islam is a divine Shari’ah tie, an everlasting relationship that unites all Muslims worldwide, regardless of race, color, language, or social status,” he stated.

Awesu further elaborated on the importance of unity, stating, “Unity in Islam means staying in one accord within one religion. It is the fundamental right of all Muslims worldwide and is crucial in our religious system. The Holy Quran teaches us that God is One.” He urged Muslims to support one another in times of distress and warned against hypocrisy, emphasizing that Islam does not condone such behavior.

The event reinforced the importance of Islamic unity, brotherhood, and interfaith harmony in Epe Division, further strengthening the religious ties among the Muslim faithful.
