ABIRU INSPECTS 34KM IKORODU–ITOKIN ROAD, IMOTA MINI STADIUM, REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO QUALITY INFRASTRUCTURE DELIVERY.

The Senator representing Lagos East Senatorial District, Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, FCA, on Monday carried out an on-the-spot inspection of the ongoing reconstruction of the 34-kilometre Ikorodu-Itokin Road and the Imota Mini Stadium, reaffirming his resolve to ensure the timely and quality completion of major infrastructure projects across his district.

The Senator, who was accompanied by his team led by his Special Adviser on Constituency Matters, Dr. (Otunba) Saheed Oladapo Ibikunle, engaged directly with engineers and site supervisors at both project sites during the visit.

The Ikorodu-Itokin Road, regarded as one of the most strategic infrastructure corridors in Lagos State, connects Ikorodu to Epe, Ijebu Ode, Ibeju-Lekki and adjoining communities, serving as a vital economic artery that facilitates commerce, mobility, and inter-community connectivity across the eastern axis of the state.

Speaking after the inspection, Senator Abiru described the road as “a lifeline for thousands of people and businesses in the Lagos East corridor,” noting that its completion would ease transportation challenges and boost productivity.

“This project is critical to the economic and social well-being of our people. It connects major towns and serves as a vital link to Epe, Ijebu Ode, and the Lekki-Epe Industrial Corridor. I came here on a routine inspection and to encourage the contractor to complete the project within the scheduled time frame,” Abiru said.

The Senator also visited the ongoing Imota Mini Stadium project, where he reiterated the importance of sports development in youth engagement and community building. “Sports play a major role in empowering our young people, and projects like the Imota Mini Stadium are part of our efforts to nurture their potential,” he stated.

Residents who witnessed the inspection expressed excitement and gratitude for Senator Abiru’s proactive leadership and consistent follow-up on developmental initiatives.

Mrs. Abiodun Oluwadara, a resident of Agbowa, commended his dedication, saying, “We have not seen a Senator so consistent in following up on projects. The Ikorodu-Itokin Road had been a nightmare for years, but today we are seeing real change.”

The ongoing reconstruction aligns with the broader infrastructure renewal drive under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, supported by Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and the Minister of Works, Senator Engr. Dave Umahi, CON.

Senator Abiru has continued to facilitate numerous constituency projects, including roads, hospitals, classrooms, and empowerment programmes, all aimed at fostering inclusive, people-centered development across Lagos East.
