In a heartwarming tribute at Omo (Children) Street, Agric, Epe, Lagos State, Kakalistiq.com reports that the legacy of the late Mrs. Mahrufat Adetoun Ogunlaja was vividly celebrated by her children, family, and a throng of well-wishers on the poignant 10th anniversary of her passing.
The atmosphere was filled with prayers and fond memories as attendees gathered at her residence to commemorate a life characterized by virtue and selflessness. The occasion, held on Thursday, January 4th, 2024, also featured a compelling remembrance lecture delivered by Alhaji Igbokoyi, a respected community development champion and Islamic scholar.
During the lecture, Alhaji Igbokoyi hailed Mrs. Ogunlaja as a dedicated member of the Jamatul Islamiyyah Society of Nigeria, highlighting her pivotal role as Treasurer and lauding her unwavering commitment to the propagation and growth of Islam.
“Her position as Treasurer was not just a title; it was a testament to her impeccable integrity,” emphasized Alhaji Igbokoyi, underscoring the profound impact of Mrs. Ogunlaja’s contributions.
He further illuminated her virtuous values as a wife, emphasizing the rare trait of complete submission to her husband during her lifetime. These qualities, he asserted, played a crucial role in fostering harmony within the family and ensuring the prosperity of both her children and the properties she left behind.
As the remembrance unfolded, Alhaji Igbokoyi urged the audience to reflect on the inevitability of judgment day, where actions speak louder than words. He passionately called for repentance and a turn to the Almighty Allah, emphasizing the pursuit of Jannah over Jahanam.
“As promised by Almighty Allah on judgment day, all dead souls will resurrect and give an account of the ways and manners in which they spent their lives. Our mouths would be shut while our legs and hands would speak and testify for us to account for our deeds, good or bad,” he said.
In an emotional response, Idris Ogunlaja, one of the sons of the deceased, overwhelmed by the unexpected turnout, expressed gratitude for the love and support shown by the attendees.
Notable figures present included Alhaji Shittu Komaadan, Imam Y.K. Issa, Alhaja Fatimah Balogun, Mrs. Adejoke Ayeola, and Alhaja Yemisi Bello, all contributing to the warmth and unity of the commemorative event.
