On Monday, October 28, 2024, http://kakalistiq.com reports that Ikosi-Ejinrin Local Council Development Area (LCDA) welcomed the Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Local Government Administration, Chieftancy, and Rural Development, marking a significant visit led by Hon. Sanni Ganiyu Babatunde Okanlawon. As part of their oversight duties, the committee aimed to review the impact of funds allocated to the LCDA, examining projects that shape the community’s growth and well-being.
Otunba-Akogun Wale Raji Anomo, Executive Chairman of Ikosi-Ejinrin, alongside members of his Executive Cabinet, legislative council, and management team, received the delegation, setting the stage for discussions around the council’s achievements, fiscal accountability, and developmental priorities. The committee’s agenda included a thorough assessment of infrastructure, education, healthcare, administrative functions, and staff welfare initiatives.
“Our visit here today is to assess firsthand how the Chairman has utilized the resources at his disposal,” stated Hon. Okanlawon. “This is part of the statutory oversight duties of the committee to evaluate the policies, projects, and overall performance of the Executive Chairman and his team. This is the 53rd Council we have visited, and I must confess, the Chairman has done exceedingly well, considering the limited resources at his disposal. There are councils with far greater resources that have achieved less, and we are proud of your accomplishments and exemplary leadership.”
The committee members were given a comprehensive report detailing past and ongoing projects, followed by an inspection of key sites across the LCDA. Akogun Anomo, in response, expressed heartfelt appreciation for the committee’s visit, commending the delegation for their guidance and positive feedback. “Your recommendations are invaluable, and we are committed to intensifying efforts to deliver even more dividends of democracy to the people of Ikosi-Ejinrin,” Anomo said.
The oversight visit also saw participation from prominent House Committee members, including Hon. Kehinde Joseph, Hon. Samuel Olufemi Apata, Hon. Olawale Age-Sulaimon Rauf, Hon. Ajayi Oluwadamilare, Hon. Surajudeen Tijani, Hon. Ogundipe S. Olukayode, and Hon. Nureni Akinsanya. The delegation was warmly received by Vice Chairman Wasiu Oluwole Dehinsilu, members of the Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA Executive Council, the Legislative Council led by Leader Hon. Hassan Mustapha Owolabi, and various department heads within the LCDA.
According to Areh AbdulHamid O., Chief Press Secretary, the visit highlights the Assembly’s commitment to ensuring that resources at the local level directly benefit the people. This remarkable oversight has reaffirmed Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA’s dedication to advancing infrastructure and social development, setting a notable example for councils across Lagos State.
