In a landmark decision, kakalistiq.com reports that the Lagos State Governor has appointed Professor Akewushola Olasupo as the Provost of Lagos State College of Health Technology (LASCOHET). Effective July 2, 2024, this prestigious role will see Professor Olasupo leading the institution for a five-year term, until July 2, 2029.
The announcement, made via a letter with reference LGS/HOS/178/XII/197, dated July 9, 2024, and signed by the Head of Service, Mr Bode Agoro, highlighted Governor Babajide Sanwoolu’s confidence in Professor Olasupo to advance the Education and Technology pillar of the THEMES Plus agenda. The Governor praised the erudite scholar from the renowned Lagos State University (LASU), underscoring his potential to drive educational excellence in the state.
The Epe-born Professor Olasupo, a distinguished Strategic Management and Entrepreneurship Professor at LASU is celebrated for his expertise in crafting organizational vision and mission statements, feasibility studies, and case study analyses. He operates within the Department of Business Administration at the Faculty of Management Sciences.
His impressive accolades include the Award of Recognition from LASUMBA (2022), Awards of Excellence from BAMSA (2021) and BAMSA-LASU (2020), and recognitions from the Institute of Classic Entrepreneurship Nigeria (ICENT) and the Institute of Investment Professionals (IIP). Notably, he was honoured as the Most Admired Lecturer at LASU in 2005 and has served on the Scientific Board of the “Lex ET Scientia” International Journal in Romania since 2011.
Professor Olasupo’s academic credentials are equally remarkable, with a Ph.D. in Business Administration from LASU (2010), an MBA in Management from the University of Ilorin (2003), an M.Sc. in General Management from the University of Lagos (2003), a Certificate of Computer from the University of Ilorin (1997), and a B.Sc. in Economics from LASU (1995).
This appointment heralds a new era for the Lagos State College of Health Technology, with expectations high for Professor Olasupo to leverage his vast experience and academic prowess to elevate the institution to new heights.
