Bursar Hails Prof. Enikuomehin’s Victory as LASU Elects AI Scholar as New DVC (Admin).

The Bursar of Lagos State University (LASU), Mr. Babatunde Olayinka, FCA, has congratulated Professor Oluwatoyin Ayokunle Enikuomehin on his election as the new Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) of the institution. The election, held on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, was conducted by the University Senate.

Professor Enikuomehin, who is currently the Director of LASU’s Directorate of Information and Communication Technology (DICT), defeated Professor Ishmael Omah of the Department of Accounting with a landslide victory of 206 votes to 4.

In a statement made available to this news medium, Mr. Olayinka, speaking on behalf of the Bursary Department, described Professor Enikuomehin’s emergence as “a timely and strategic development for the university.” He praised the professor’s deep expertise in technology, proven administrative skills, and vision for digital transformation.

“Professor Enikuomehin’s emergence as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) is not just a victory for him but a huge win for LASU. His track record in digital innovation, academic excellence, and transparent leadership aligns perfectly with the university’s forward-looking agenda. The Bursary Department looks forward to working with him to advance LASU’s administrative excellence and technological drive,” he assured.

Professor Oluwatoyin Ayokunle Enikuomehin is a seasoned academic and technology expert renowned for his work in Artificial Intelligence, Digital Transformation, and ICT Policy Development. A proud indigene of Okitipupa, Ondo State, he joined LASU in 2006 and has steadily risen through the ranks to become a Professor of Computer Science.

He holds B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Ilorin and has conducted advanced research at institutions across France, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Rwanda. He has also served as a Visiting Professor and Consultant across Africa and globally, contributing to AI curriculum development and institutional innovation.

As Director of LASU’s DICT, he has spearheaded major digital reforms within the university, including automation of academic services, ICT policy development, and smart governance initiatives. With over 90 scholarly publications, he is a recognized thought leader in AI for Governance and Institutional Transformation.

Professor Enikuomehin succeeds Professor Adenike Omotunde Boyo, whose four-year tenure ends on Saturday, October 11, 2025. His appointment as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) is subject to ratification by the University’s Governing Council.

If confirmed, he is expected to assume office on Sunday, October 12, 2025.
