Commissioner Oladunjoye Visits Oba of Lagos to Rally Support for E-Birth Registration, 2024 Census.

In a significant strategy to garner unwavering support for the success of the impending 2024 Census an dE-birth registration in Lagos State and Nigeria at large, kakalistiq.com reports that the Federal Commissioner representing Lagos at the National Population Commission (NPC), Barrister Olayinka Oladunjoye, paid a crucial visit to the revered Oba of Lagos, His Imperial Majesty, Alaiyeluwa, Oba Aremu Okikiola Akiolu I, at his palace on Wednesday, July 3rd, 2024.

The Federal Commissioner emphasised the significance of the visit, “Visiting a monarch of the stature of the Oba of Lagos is of utmost importance, considering the critical role and influence he wields. As the top monarch, his support and advocacy for the e-birth registration and census project are invaluable. Alayeluwa’s endorsement can significantly amplify our message, reaching the committee of royal fathers and the wider community, thereby ensuring a successful and comprehensive census.”

In furtherance of the Commission’s advocacy on the preparation for the Launching of the E-registration portal for birth and census, Barrister Oladunjoye described the visit as a two-in-one experience, noting; a homecoming and reunion, as well as an official engagement.

Highlighting the significance of the E-registration strategy for birth and the census, Barrister Oladunjoye averred that the launch of the E-registration portal is a groundbreaking step towards modernizing the census process.

“The E-registration strategy will not only facilitate easier access for citizens to participate in the birth and the census but also improve data integrity and reduce the risk of errors. This innovative approach is crucial for a successful census exercise, as it will provide accurate data essential for national planning, resource allocation, and policy-making,” she added.

Expressing his excitement about the visit, the Oba of Lagos warmly welcomed Barrister Oladunjoye, one of his esteemed daughters. He remarked that the conduct of the census and birth registration is vital for the development of Lagos and the entire nation. The respected Monarch averred that accurate population data is essential for effective planning and the equitable distribution of resources.
