Dr. Aiyeola Sikiru Yommy, the former Head of the Department of Satellite Systems, on Tuesday, November 13th, 2024. The event, held at the CSTD conference hall, was marked by heartfelt speeches and well-wishes from CSTD leadership and staff.
Dr Aiyeola Sikiru, who recently assumed the role of Director of Space Regulation and Spectrum Management at the National Space Research and Development Agency, was honoured for his exemplary service and contributions.
Director and Chief Executive Officer of CSTD, Engr. Dr. Sadiq Abubakar Umar kicked off the ceremony with high praise for Dr. Sikiru. “He has been a diligent and capable officer, and his promotion was well-deserved and should have come sooner,” Dr. Umar remarked. He further expressed his full support for Dr Sikiru’s future endeavours and encouraged all staff to uphold the vision that has fostered a more productive work culture.
Engr. Micheal Chukwu and Engr. Ibrahim Mohammed, having worked closely with Dr Sikiru, shared their goodwill messages. “Dr. Sikiru’s welcoming and accommodating nature has always been an asset to our team,” Engr. Chukwu said, while Engr. Mohammed expressed hope that Dr. Sikiru would continue to provide guidance and mentorship.
The ceremony’s highlight was the presentation of an award to Dr. Sikiru by Dr. Umar, recognizing his exceptional service. Additionally, Dr. Umar presented an award to Dr. Musabi, the immediate past Head of the department, for his steadfast commitment and dedication to duty.
Responding to the accolades, Dr. Sikiru expressed his gratitude. “I am deeply thankful for the support and collaboration we’ve shared over the years. Leading the Satellite System department has been an honour,” he stated, also reflecting on their joint training endeavours.
Engr. Dr. Yusuf Olatubosun, Director of Engineering Space System at the headquarters, assured the CSTD community of continued support. “My office will provide any necessary assistance to ensure our success,” he affirmed.
Engr. Dr. Sadiq Umar concluded the ceremony by highlighting the valuable contributions of Dr. Sikiru and Dr. Olatubosun. “Their intelligence and dedication have been invaluable to our administration,” he noted.
The current Head of the Department of Satellite Systems closed the event with a vote of thanks, wishing Dr Sikiru a smooth transition and continued success in his new role.
