In a significant development, kakalistiq.com reports that on Monday, November 20, 2023, officials from the Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) paid a visit to the Igando Oloja office. The visit, a follow-up to a recent meeting with the company’s Managing Director, was led by the Ibeju District Manager.
During the meeting, the EKEDC team shared insights into the ongoing efforts and strategies aimed at enhancing operational efficiencies and increasing power supply to Ibeju Lekki. Residents confirmed improved power supply up to Igando and other parts of the local government. To ensure reliability, the Eleko feeder, a crucial component for the local government, is being monitored daily to prevent overloading and tripping, leading to occasional load-shedding. Other feeders include Ibeju and Elemoro.
Addressing the proposed network evaluation and assessment by the Headquarters team, the Business Manager assured that a team would soon be dispatched to Ibeju Lekki for a technical audit, targeting the resolution of issues like poor transformers and faulty cables.
Furthermore, both parties discussed the persistent challenge of estimated bills, reaching a consensus to initiate the immediate application and registration of prepaid meters for residents. The specific modalities for this initiative will be communicated before the end of the week.
In a commitment to addressing outstanding bills, EKDC pledged to provide the local government with a comprehensive list of transformers and communities with outstanding debts. To facilitate resolution, a reconciliation and negotiation team will be established by the local government, working towards acceptable terms of settlement. Additionally, a service level agreement is in the pipeline between consumers in various communities and EKEDC.
Expressing gratitude for the understanding of residents, the administration assured an unwavering commitment to delivering excellent services. Stay tuned for further updates as the partnership unfolds.
