During his address at the award ceremony, Comrade Akolade Lapite, the Chairman of ASUU-LASUED, highlighted the noble initiatives undertaken by the National body of ASUU and how LASUED has proudly emulated these efforts. “This scholarship award is not just a recognition of hard work but a powerful commitment to empowering intelligent students facing financial difficulties. We aim to ensure that no student’s academic pursuit is hindered by financial challenges,” Comrade Lapite emphasized.

Speaking further, Comrade Lapite explained the significance of the gesture: “By investing in the education of our brightest minds, we are not only uplifting individual lives but also strengthening the fabric of our union, enhancing the future of our education sector, and contributing to the broader development of our society.”

The scholarships were awarded to six deserving students, with two students receiving ₦200,000 each from the National body of ASUU and four students receiving ₦100,000 each from the ASUU LASUED chapter. These awards serve as a beacon of hope and encouragement for all students to strive for excellence.

In a heartfelt appreciation, one of the award recipients, Amusan Iseoluwa from the Primary Education Department shared, “This scholarship has provided immense relief and motivation. It has shown us that our hard work does not go unnoticed and that there is support for students from less privileged backgrounds. We are grateful for this opportunity and encourage our peers to study diligently, as such endeavours bring great benefits and open doors to a brighter future.”
