The program, which aims to provide much-needed educational materials to primary school pupils, kicked off at R.C.M. Primary School in Odomola and will extend to all 18 public primary schools within the LCDA.

Speaking at the launch, Hon. Akinloye emphasized the significance of the initiative. “We are committed to ensuring that every child in Eredo has access to quality education without the burden of basic school supplies falling heavily on parents,” Akinloye remarked. “No child will be left behind in our mission, which aligns with the THEMES agenda of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.”

The Chairman also reflected on the joy of witnessing students receive their school supplies, including new bags and exercise books. “Seeing the smiles on these children’s faces is truly rewarding. It fuels our drive to keep supporting the future of our community,” he added.

Beyond the distribution of materials, Akinloye underscored his administration’s dedication to improving the overall educational infrastructure in the area. “In the past few years, we’ve made significant strides in enhancing the learning environment for our students. From constructing modern classrooms to providing essential facilities, our goal is to create a conducive atmosphere for education.”

He went on to highlight several key achievements under his leadership:
– Construction of a fully equipped block of six classrooms at UPE Primary School in Ajegbende, complete with a head teacher’s office and toilets.
– Building of a three-classroom block at UPE Primary School in Odogbawojo.
– Installation of perimeter fences and gates in multiple schools, including St. John RCM Primary School, Odomola, and UPE Primary Schools in Ilara and Imokun.
– Provision of generators, repairs of dilapidated structures, and creation of dining sheds at selected schools.

To date, over 210,000 exercise books have been distributed across all 18 public primary schools in Eredo, and the employment of 60 new NCE/B.Ed graduates has strengthened the teaching workforce. Akinloye also noted that over 10 local indigenes have secured employment at LASUBEB, the state education board.

Hon. Lateef Adesanya, Vice Chairman of Eredo LCDA, also took the opportunity to advise the pupils to make good use of the educational resources provided. “These materials are for your benefit, and we hope they inspire you to study harder and be proud representatives of your families and schools,” he said.

The ‘Back to School’ Initiative, which will reach schools including Pobo Primary School, UPE Primary School in Imokun, and Government Demonstration Primary School in Noforija, is a testament to the council’s commitment to the welfare and future of the next generation. As the initiative rolls out, it is clear that no student in Eredo will be left out of this transformative drive.
