In a recent tour on March 3rd, 2024, Hon. Olowa joined hands with the Lagos State Commissioner for Agriculture, Honorable Abisola Olusanya, to announce a groundbreaking agreement between the Lagos State Ministry of Agriculture and the Ibeju Lekki Local Government. This agreement will establish cassava plantation hubs in Ibeju Lekki through a new Out-Grower Scheme, which is set to revolutionize agricultural practices and boost economic opportunities for farmers in the region.
The Out-Grower Scheme, designed to organize artisanal farmers into clusters for cassava cultivation, promises a range of support measures, including land clearing, the provision of seedlings, access to credit finance, and marketing assistance. This collaboration signifies a significant step towards increased agricultural productivity and prosperity for the local community.
To ensure the effective implementation of the Out-Grower Scheme and achieve its objectives, Hon. Olowa inaugurated a 9-man technical committee comprising dedicated individuals with expertise in agriculture on March 8, 2024. Dr. Isa Fadulai, an Associate Professor of Agriculture, was appointed as the Chairman of the committee, which will oversee various aspects of the program, including land clearing, agronomy training for farmers, and pest control measures.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Hon. Olowa expressed confidence in the technical committee’s ability to deliver tangible results and leave a lasting impact on agricultural development in Ibeju-Lekki. He also extended appreciation to Commissioner Abisola Olusanya for the state government’s support and recognition of Ibeju Lekki as a potential food processing hub.
The All Farmers Association of Nigeria, Ibeju Lekki Chapter President, Mr. Taiwo Kadiri, commended Hon. Olowa’s administration for the revolutionary strides in the agricultural sector, emphasizing the fortunate position of farmers under the current leadership.
In another bid to boost the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the Council, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa organized a 1-day training on digital applications for revenue generation on March 5, 2024. The training, facilitated by the Ibeju-Lekki Revenue Board in collaboration with Centrify Platform Limited, aimed to equip Revenue Officers and Agents with digital revenue collection skills through e-ticketing applications. This initiative is part of the ongoing efforts by Hon. Olowa’s administration to reform revenue collection processes and enhance service delivery to the people of Ibeju-Lekki.
The training program witnessed the active participation of key stakeholders, including the Revenue Vice-Chairman, Hon.
