Lagos GAC Leader Applauds SAIL Innovation Lab’s Impact: ‘An Asset to the Nation’

kakalistiq.com  reports that the air was electric at the SAIL Innovation Lab on Wednesday as Prince Tajudeen Oluyole Olusi, the distinguished leader of the Lagos Governance Advisory Council (GAC), made a landmark visit to the state-of-the-art facility that is reshaping the future of young Lagosians. Located in the heart of Ikorodu, the lab has empowered over 8,400 constituents, mainly youths, with in-demand skills in digital technology, data science, and tech innovation.

Prince Olusi, an elder statesman and revered national political figure, marveled at the innovation hub that has transformed countless lives in the Lagos East Senatorial District. Touring the facility alongside key political leaders from the Ikorodu division, Olusi praised the visionary efforts of co-founders Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru and Mrs. Feyisola Abiru.

“This property is being used for the education and developmental training of our children who are the future leaders of our country, who will contribute immensely to the economic development of Nigeria,” Olusi remarked, his voice brimming with pride.

During his visit, Olusi called for increased collaboration to harness the untapped potential of Nigerian youth through digital skills. He thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for inspiring Senator Abiru to transition from the corporate world to politics, where he has made a notable impact. “The Senator has justified the trust reposed in him with the transformation he has brought into public service,” he added.

Senator Abiru, reflecting on the lab’s mission, emphasized the importance of inspiration and mentorship for young Nigerians. “Beyond the facility and faculty we have created here, we always like to bring accomplished people not only to showcase what we are doing here but also speak with the participants so that they can inspire them. We are committed to the upskilling of our young people because of their resourcefulness,” said Abiru.

Also among the dignitaries was Mrs. Folashade Ambrose-Medebem, Lagos State Honourable Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade, and Investment, who hailed the lab as a “remarkable, great, and innovative” addition to Lagos’ burgeoning tech scene.

Dr. Olasupo Olusi, Managing Director of the Bank of Industry, highlighted the global push towards digital skills as a key driver of economic growth, noting that facilities like the SAIL Innovation Lab are critical to unlocking Nigeria’s economic potential. “Several studies have shown that one of the best ways to grow the economy faster is to invest in the digital economy, and that has several components including digital skills, infrastructure. This wonderful edifice is an asset to the nation,” Dr. Olusi stated.

The event was graced by notable leaders, including Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, Asiwaju Reuben Olorunfunmi Basorun, Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe, and other GAC members, all of whom expressed their support for the lab’s groundbreaking initiatives. As the tour concluded, the message was clear: the SAIL Innovation Lab is more than just a tech hub; it is a beacon of hope for the future of Nigeria’s youth.
