In a monumental stride for educational development, kakalistiq.com reports that two students from Ibeju Senior Secondary School, Ibeju-Lekki, have been awarded scholarships to study Mechatronics Engineering and Mass Communication at Pan Atlantic University (PAU).

The announcement was made yesterday, marking a significant achievement for the local community and its educational initiatives.

Hon. Sesan Olowa

According to a statement released by Akadiri Ayorinde, Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, these scholarship recipients are products of the weekend tutorial classes organized by the local government in collaboration with PAU. “Since its inception, the program has drastically improved the academic performance of our public secondary school students. This year alone, six students from the weekend tutorial program secured scholarships to study at PAU,” Ayorinde noted.

Hon. Sesan Olowa, Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, expressed immense pride in the students’ accomplishments during a reception held in their honor. “We are committed to supporting these bright minds as they embark on this life-changing journey. Our administration will cover the remaining 2% of the tuition fees not included in the scholarship, ensuring that financial barriers do not hinder their success,” Olowa declared.

The scholarship, which covers 98% of the total fees, is part of a broader partnership between Ibeju-Lekki Local Government and PAU aimed at uplifting educational standards in the area. Reflecting on this partnership, Olowa said, “Three years ago, we sought this collaboration with PAU to elevate our youths through education. Today, the results are evident, aligning perfectly with our mission to harness local resources for socio-economic growth.”

Hon. Olowa further encouraged the scholarship winners to maximize this golden opportunity. “You are trailblazers for your peers. Work hard, make us proud, and inspire other students to aim for excellence,” he urged.

Parents of the beneficiaries (Adeyemi Joshua Akorede – Mechatronics Engineering; Joy Ugochi Samuel – Mass Communication and Taiwo Olamide Cornelius – Course pending) expressed deep gratitude for the initiative. Mr. Adeyemi, the father of one of the recipients, shared his joy: “For my son, getting this scholarship would have been a distant dream without the innovative partnership between our local government and PAU. We are incredibly thankful.”

It was stated that the names of three additional students are yet to be announced as they undergo the final stages of the screening process.

With the forward-thinking leadership of Hon. Sesan Olowa, Ibeju-Lekki is swiftly transforming into a hub of academic excellence, setting a new standard for educational opportunities in Lagos State.
