kakalistiq.com reports that the Odo-Noforija Kingdom in Epe Division, Lagos State, has been thrown into a reflective mood following the peaceful passing of one of its most revered matriarchs, Princess Susana Ayodele Shafau (Nee Ogunlaja), fondly known as Iya Oba, who journeyed to eternal rest on July 12, 2025, at the graceful age of 86.

Born into the illustrious Ogunbotu Ononlu – Alagbo Ogunlaja Ruling House in Itun-Oligbe, Princess Shafau was a proud royal daughter whose life exemplified grace, humility, and unwavering faith. A devout Christian and respected community leader, she was a pillar of strength within her family and a symbol of dignity throughout Eredo LCDA and beyond.

Her life of service and compassion touched many hearts, and her legacy remains deeply woven into the fabric of the Odo-Noforija Kingdom.

The Ogunlaja Royal Family has announced a series of burial events to celebrate the remarkable life of Iya Oba:

1. Wake-Keeping: Friday, 29th August 2025 at the Ogunlaja Royal Family House, Itun-Oligbe, near the official Aladeshonyin Palace, Odo-Noforija Kingdom, Eredo LCDA, Epe Division.

2. Funeral Service & Interment: Saturday, 30th August 2025 at the First African Church Mission, St. David’s Parish, Odo-Noforija Kingdom, Eredo LCDA. Interment follows immediately. Guests will be entertained at the open field beside the Aladeshonyin Palace.

3. Thanksgiving Service: Sunday, 31st August 2025 at the First African Church Mission, St. David’s Parish, Odo-Noforija Kingdom, Eredo LCDA, Epe Division.

As officially announced in a statement by HRM Oba Dr Babatunde Ogunlaja JP, mourners, friends, and well-wishers are encouraged to send in their condolence messages early to the Oba Aladeshonyin Media Section (08136346780) for inclusion in the official burial programme and to avoid printing delays.
