Rep. Bayo Balogun Boosts Food Security in Ibeju-Lekki with Fertilizer Distribution to Local Farmers

In a strategic move to enhance food security and encourage farming, kakalistiq.com reports that Rep. Bayo Balogun, a Member of the House of Representatives for Ibeju-Lekki Federal Constituency, facilitated the distribution of fertilizers to farmers in his constituency this week. On Saturday, August 31st, 2024, the distribution heralded the Bankole Town Constituency Office of the esteemed Federal Lawmaker as the venue buzzed with various beneficiaries as well as notable stakeholders in the constituency.

Speaking at the event, Rep. Balogun, Chairman, of the House Committee on Electoral Matters, emphasized his dedication to his role as a representative, stating, “My primary function is to speak on behalf of those who elected me, making me the voice of the common person. With a proven track record of dedication and commitment to serving Ibeju-Lekki Federal Constituency, I am dedicated to making positive changes and advocating for our community’s needs.”

He further elaborated on his efforts to connect with various stakeholders, including local government members, youth bodies, market women, farmers, and community developers, saying, “Through engaging with them, I have understood their concerns and tirelessly worked to advocate for democracy’s benefits. To continue making a difference, it is crucial to support the government and stand by the agenda of Renewed Hope.”

Rep. Balogun highlighted the significance of the fertilizer distribution, stating, “As your representative, I secured a significant quantity of fertilizer for our hardworking farmers, enhancing soil fertility, boosting crop production, and ensuring food abundance. I advise farmers to utilize the fertilizer effectively and not consider selling it, as this will help alleviate hunger in the future. I promise to continue supporting your association to the best of my ability.”

He urged the community to unite in supporting the government’s agenda, adding, “By uniting and showing our support for our party, I will ensure our interests are well protected and represented. Together, we can build a centre of excellence in Ibeju-Lekki, creating a brighter future for generations to come.”

Honourable Fatai Mojeed, Lagos State House of Assembly, Constituency I, also addressed the farmers, encouraging them to make good use of the fertilizer and take advantage of government-provided resources. He disclosed plans to acquire land in Ogun State for cassava cultivation, aimed at boosting food production in Ibeju-Lekki and surrounding areas.

Engineer Sesan Olowa, Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, urged farmers to maintain responsible use of fertilizers. He expressed gratitude to the participating farmers and commended Rep. Balogun for his relentless support.

In the same vein, HRM Oba Olayemi Lukman Arowolo, the Gbadewolu of Araromi Kingdom, Ibeju-Lekki, praised Rep. Balogun for his consistency and commitment as a representative, emphasizing the need for farm settlements to support local agriculture.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Hon. Isiaka Yussuf Olatunji, Vice-Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government; Hon. Tosin Oshinuga, SLG Lekki LCDA; Hon. Monsuru Ola, Leader, Lekki LCDA; and Hon. Mojeed Olayinka, Leader, Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, among others.

The distribution marks another milestone in Rep. Balogun’s efforts to bolster agricultural development in Ibeju-Lekki, fostering a sustainable future for the community’s farmers.
