In what has been described as a turning point for education in Epe Federal Constituency, kakalistiq.com reports that Rep. Wale Raji has restated his commitment to educational development in Epe Federal Constituency.
He made the statement on Thursday, August 21, 2025, during the commissioning of three brand new schools in Oko-Abe, Ilege, and Owu-Ikosi communities. The landmark commissioning, held with pomp, was graced by top government officials, political leaders, royal fathers, and community stakeholders.
Representing the Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, was the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Hon. Jamiu Alli-Balogun, who officially commissioned and handed over the fully furnished school buildings, each complete with classrooms and toilets for use from September 2025.
Other dignitaries included Lagos APC GAC Member and Epe Divisional Political Leader, Alhaji Akanni Seriki Bamu, represented by Hon. Ahmed Seriki; Rep. Bayo Balogun of Ibeju-Lekki Federal Constituency; Hon. Adebola Shabi of the Lagos Assembly; Pro-Chancellor, Federal University of Agriculture, Zuru, Kebbi State, Alhaja Azeezat Raji; Epe LG Chairman, Princess Surah Animashaun, represented by her Vice, Hon. Sikiru Owolomoshe; Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA Chairman, Otunba Wale Anomo; Lekki LCDA Chairman, Engr. Rasaki Bamidele Kasali; Eredo LCDA Chairman, Hon. Royal Fathers present included HRM Oba Taiwo Gbadamosi, the Onito-Omu of Ito-Omu; HRM Oba Babatunde Asumo, the Alayandelu of Odo-Ayandelu; HRM Oba Nelson Ogunlari, the Olowu of Owu-Ikosi; HRM Oba Elias Omoloro, the Olota of Ota-Ikosi; HRM Oba Nureni Alugbin, the Oniladaba of Ladaba; HRM Oba Adeleke Akibu, the Onilepia of Lepia, alongside the Baales of Oko-Abe and Ilege.
While addressing constituents, Rep. Wale Raji made it clear that the new projects are proof of responsive representation to end unpleasant tales of access to education in underserved communities. “We have decided to change the narrative. Before now, the allegations leveled against politicians is that they only show up to remote communities and riverine areas during electioneering campaign periods and after getting the votes, they’re nowhere to be found, not to talk of bringing the dividends of democracy to them. But the narrative has changed. During the election, we came here to campaign for votes, and you cast your votes for our party, and what we’re witnessing today is a confirmation that we’re trustworthy as a party, and this will not be the first intervention that we will embark on in this ward,” he said.
The lawmaker highlighted his interventions, including a bridge that ended perennial flooding in Oguntedo, new classrooms at Oriba Primary School, and the installation of solar street lights. He also revealed that teachers, principals, and vice principals have already been deployed, thanks to the state education authorities. Urging parents to seize the opportunity, he stressed: “We’ve brought education to your doorstep.”
At Ilege in Lekki LCDA, he expressed satisfaction in fulfilling a long-demanded need: “You challenged me then, and I’m happy that I didn’t disappoint you. Request for transformers, Solar-Powered Borehole, and a network of roads. And to crown it all, we have been able to establish a new secondary school in Ilege.”
Speaking at Owu-Ikosi, Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA, he stressed the importance of education, adding: “Education is very important and if we do not make adequate provision for our children, we are endangering their future. But with this, we’re preparing them for the challenges of the future.”
He noted that “when schools are opened, gates to a prison are closed,” emphasizing that not just additional classrooms were delivered, but entirely new schools where none had existed. He further updated the community on ongoing projects, including Mowowale Market shops, vocational centers, Ebute-Ikosi and Orugbo jetties, Ketu Township road, Ejinrin Township Hall, and the vandalized stadium. “I want to assure the good people of Ikosi-Ejinrin that they will receive more than adequate attention in the scheme of things. I am one of you and I will adequately protect your interests,” he affirmed.
The event drew praises from local government chairmen, traditional rulers, baales, party stalwarts, and community leaders, who applauded the lawmaker’s vision while also calling for more development.
