Peaceful Polls, Uncontested Victories: Rep. Wale Raji, Others Laud APC Unity and Voter Turnout in Ise, Lekki LCDA Elections.

In what many have described as a symbolic celebration of democracy, kakalistiq.com reports that Rep. Wale Raji, Member of the House of Representatives for Epe Federal Constituency, led constituents in performing their civic duty during the local government elections held across various wards in Epe Federal Constituency.

Rep. Wale Raji

Though the atmosphere was relaxed and largely celebratory at LG Primary School, Ise, Lekki LCDA due to the lack of opposition, he emphasized the importance of turning out to vote particularly to ratify the unopposed APC candidates in both chairmanship and councillorship positions.

“We are here to vote for the Chairman of Lekki LCDA and the Councillor representing Ward B1,” said Rep. Raji after casting his vote. “The Councillor has no opposition; he was the only aspirant during the primaries, and no other party fielded a candidate. This is more or less a ratification, but civic duty must be done regardless.”

The election process across the wards was peaceful and orderly, with electoral officers arriving early and voting commencing without hitches. “It’s been calm, seamless, and celebratory,” Rep. Raji noted.

Commenting on the broader political significance of the election, especially in the context of the 2027 presidential race, Raji acknowledged that while the turnout could have been higher, the lack of competition may have created a sense of complacency. “I expected a greater turnout. When there’s no opposition, people tend to relax. But we’re encouraging our people not to be complacent. Civic engagement is still key.”

He also highlighted the political uniqueness of Lekki LCDA: “Across the five wards, there is no contest, APC candidates are being returned unchallenged. That shows the level of confidence our people have in the leadership of the party.”

Rep. Wale Raji extends his heartfelt commendation to the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) for its professionalism, timely deployment, and the peaceful conduct of the just-concluded local government elections.

He also expresses deep appreciation to the electorates across Epe Federal Constituency for their unwavering support and trust in the candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as demonstrated through their active participation and overwhelming endorsement at the polls.

Rep. Wale Raji assures constituents that this renewed mandate will be matched with even greater commitment to delivering more dividends of democracy across all communities in the constituency.

Outgoing two-term Councillor for Ward E, Hon. Bakre Idris Olawale, expressed gratitude to constituents for their unity and participation. He praised Rep. Raji’s leadership and acknowledged the developmental impact the APC-led administration has had across the ward.

“When we wake up each day, we believe APC delivers. We’ve achieved much in education, health, and infrastructure through coordinated leadership and support from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Sanwo-Olu, and our Council Chairman, Engr. Rasaki Bamidele.”

Echoing the sentiments of others, political stakeholder Alhaji Tunde Kareem described the Lekki LCDA election as exceptional, highlighting the APC’s internal democratic process and wide consultations that led to a unified ticket.

“In our ward, nine aspirants showed interest in contesting. But through the consultative leadership of Hon. Wale Raji, a consensus was peacefully reached, and all others stepped down for the eventual candidate. This is a unique model of inclusive politics.”

As results are awaited, the general consensus is that beyond voting, the unity, peaceful conduct, and mutual respect within the APC fold in Ise and Lekki LCDA reflect a mature political culture, one many hope will serve as a model for others across the state and nation.
