Mrs Monsurat Alaka Becomes Permanent Secretary in Lagos After Sanwo-Olu’s Appointment.

Mrs. Monsurat Alaka has been appointed as a Permanent Secretary by the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, in the state’s civil service.

Mrs. Alaka, who was the Director of Finance and Accounts at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), is now one of the top officials helping to manage key areas of the state government. Her promotion is seen as a major achievement in her long and dedicated civil service career.

She is from the Kadri Odedeogboro family in Epe, Lagos State, and has built a strong reputation for hard work and professionalism over the years. Her appointment shows the state government’s recognition of her efforts and leadership in public service.

Governor Sanwo-Olu approved her promotion along with eight other senior civil servants, who were also appointed as Permanent Secretaries in different ministries and agencies. The announcement was made in an official circular signed by the Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro, with reference number CIR/HOS/’25/Vol.I/069. The letter, dated September 23, 2025, was sent to top officials across the state, including the Deputy Governor, the Speaker of the House of Assembly, the Chief Judge, and heads of local governments.

According to the circular, the new appointments are part of the governor’s plan to improve how the government works and to make service delivery better for the people of Lagos. It also mentioned that the appointees were chosen based on their excellent performance and contributions to the state.

1. Dr. Olufemi Motunolani Omololu – Chief Medical Officer, Health Service Commission (Island Maternity).

4. Mr. Muhammed Tijani Babatunde Onigbanjo – Director, Admin. & HR, Office of the Chief of Staff.

5. Mr. Olutokunbo Olayode Oyenuga – Director, Civil Engineering, Office. of Infrastructure

6. Mr. Rafiu Olawale Ojikutu – Director, Admin. & HR, Motor Vehicle Administration Agency.

7. Mr. Olufemi Bamidele Paseda – Principal/Director, Education District III

8. Mrs. Oluwakemi Amudat Adedeji – Director, Admin. & HR, Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget

9. Dr. Adesola Ayodele Pitan – Chief Medical Officer, Health Service Commission

The Head of Service urged all departments and agencies to share the news widely and give full support to the new appointees as they begin their new roles.

Mrs. Alaka’s appointment also highlights the Lagos State Government’s continued support for promoting women in leadership and encouraging excellence in public service.
