Kakalistiq.com reports that the Ejinrin kingdom was filled with joy on Friday, January 5th, 2023, as Rep. Wale Raji, Member of the House of Representatives for Epe Federal Constituency, spearheaded the groundbreaking foundation laying of an ultra-modern and multi-purpose hall.
In his speech, Rep. Wale Raji reflected on his political journey, attributing his entry into the Green Chambers to a divine encounter with His Royal Majesty Oba Babatunde Balogun, Ejalonibu I, the Elejinrin of the Ejinrin Kingdom. Over a decade ago, the revered monarch inspired and blessed him, a moment Raji considers as potent as an antidote to poison.
The lawmaker acknowledged that the initiative for the facility came from the Elejinrin, who expressed dissatisfaction with the absence of developmental projects in Ejinrin despite Raji’s numerous strides elsewhere. The promise to construct a town hall that was made at the Oloja Epe palace in a meeting with the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, has now come to fruition.
Rep. Wale Raji outlined upcoming projects, including the Mowowale Market, Owu Community School, and more. Emphasizing the changing dynamics of politics, he underscored the importance of impactful representation over personal gains, citing Rep. Femi Gbajabiamiala’s developmental strides in Surelere Federal Constituency. “We must use our slots; we must use our seats in the house and in the assembly to develop our community,” he retorted.
Touching on ongoing projects, Raji mentioned the construction of lock-up shops at the ancient Ayetoro Market and upcoming endeavors at Pobo, Mowowale, and Mojoda markets. He cautioned against using revenue drives as a pretext to displace indigenous traders from ancestral markets in favor of non-indigenous moneybags.
Rep. Wale Raji urged community ownership of the 750-capacity hall and emphasized the need for quality construction work from the contractor. He assured that the project would be commissioned by the middle of the year.
The initiative reflects the lawmaker’s commitment to the collective development of Ejinrin and its constituents.
