LASUED’s English Department Ignites Academic Journey with Dynamic Orientation

On Thursday, January 25th, 2024, kakalistiq.com reports that the College of Language and Communication Arts (COLCAED) at Lagos State University of Education (LASUED), Noforija, Epe Campus, set the stage for an unforgettable academic voyage as it hosted the orientation exercise for its newly admitted students.

The Lecture Theater I (L.T I) buzzed with excitement, becoming the epicentre for a promising academic journey for the freshers. Renowned lecturers, including Dr. Ojetunde CF, Mr. Unoroh Solomon, Dr. Yede F.S, Mrs. Ogunniyi, Dr. Femi Idowu, Mr. Aloba Michael, Mr. Fola Agoi, and Mr. Kaka Babatunde, graced the occasion, laying the foundation for a transformative learning experience.

The event, attended by esteemed academia, marked the launchpad propelling students toward prospects of national growth and development. Dr. Ojetunde C.F, the Head of the Department, welcomed the students in her address, offering invaluable advice for a successful academic pursuit.

The orientation included comprehensive lectures by experienced academic and administrative staff. Dr. Ojetunde guided students through the critical aspects of course registration, emphasizing the significance of compulsory and elective courses, CGPA calculation, and adherence to the standards highlighted in the NUC curriculum.

Dr. Femi Idowu shared insights on student conduct before and during examinations, addressing key aspects crucial to success. Similarly, Mr. Unoroh Solomon highlighted the importance of safety and security, urging students to be vigilant both on and off campus.

The necessity of documentation took centre stage, with Mr. Ahmed Gbabijo, the Departmental Administrative Officer, stressing the importance of record-keeping and time management for students’ benefit.

The exercise concluded with a dynamic question-and-answer session, clarifying various aspects of university life. Matriculation, teaching practice, tuition fee payment, and more were addressed, fostering an interactive and informative atmosphere.

In his closing remarks, Mr. Aloba Michael commended the students for their humility and cooperation, emphasizing dedication and commitment to their studies. He encouraged the application of the “No Gree for Anybody” mantra for a successful academic odyssey in LASUED.

Expressing gratitude in the vote of thanks, the Head of Class, Michael, acknowledged the department’s noble gesture, anticipating the immeasurable impact the orientation would have on their academic journey at LASUED.
