The distribution of rice, which fulfills the pledge made by Senator Abiru in response to last year’s flood disaster in Kosofe, Ikosi-Isheri, and Agboyi-Ketu, aims to offer assistance to those severely affected by the natural disaster.

Affected communities, including Odo-Ogun, Ajegunle, Owode-Elede, Osho-Ogun, and Agboyi-town under Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, witnessed the distribution of rice parcels. Similarly, residents of Agiliti 2, Maidan, Orisha/Isheri, Ajegunle/Idera/Kiokio, Isheri-North, and Akinpelu communities in Ikosi-Isheri LCDA received aid. Additionally, individuals residing in the Oworo coastal area and Ogudu, Ojota, and Mende areas in Kosofe Local Government Area benefitted from the relief efforts.

Facilitated through collaboration between the Senator’s office, local government authorities, community leaders, and the Community Development Committee (CDC), the distribution ensured that the rice reached the intended recipients effectively.

Senator Abiru’s humanitarian gesture extends beyond this initiative, as it forms part of his ongoing efforts to support vulnerable members of society. Through his quarterly Food Packs Program, thousands of households across the 16 LGAs and LCDAs in the Lagos East Senatorial District receive assistance regularly.

During the distribution ceremony, Otunba Saheed Oladapo Ibikunle, PhD, representing Senator Abiru, alongside notable political and community leaders, including APC LGA chairmen and East Consultative Forum (ECF) Coordinators, handed over the rice to the council chairmen of Agboyi-Ketu, Ikosi-Isheri, and Kosofe LGAs.

Expressing gratitude on behalf of their respective communities, the council chairmen commended Senator Abiru for his compassion and generosity, particularly during challenging economic times, underscoring the positive impact of his support on the affected populace.
