In a move aimed at alleviating the economic hardships faced by the people of Epe Federal Constituency, kakalistiq.com reports that Rep. Wale Raji distributed 6,000 bags of rice and beans as part of the Federal Government’s grain palliative initiative. The distribution, which took place on Sunday, March 10th, 2024, saw the participation of key political figures, chieftains, and stakeholders of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Epe.
Among the dignitaries present at the event were prominent figures such as Alhaji Akanni Seriki Bamu, a member of the Lagos Governors Advisory Council (GAC) and Epe Divisional Leader; Hon. Kehinde Adeniyi, the Lagos APC State Welfare Secretary; Hon. Tolani Odeyemi (WASTAB), a former Lagos State House of Assembly Lawmaker and APC Apex Leader; and Hon. Ogunkelu Dahunsi (Sketel), the Lagos State House of Assembly Member representing Epe Constituency II.
Addressing the gathering, Rep. Wale Raji attributed the success of the event to the initiative of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who awarded contracts for the grain palliative to all 360 federal constituencies across the country. Reacting to the media reports that some lawmakers hoarded the palliative, he lauded the unwavering support of the people of Epe, noting their trust in his commitment to delivering the palliative whenever it arrived.
The distribution process was characterized by transparency, with each beneficiary receiving a 10-kg bag of rice and beans. Rep. Wale Raji assured the constituents that this would be a continuous exercise, with further initiatives planned to support the federal government’s efforts.
Explaining the distribution strategy, Rep. Wale Raji outlined that 3000 constituents would benefit from the palliative, with 70 people from each ward receiving the food items. He emphasized the inclusivity of the initiative, extending the distribution to “LGA members, the Christian Association of Nigeria, the League of Imams and Alfas, traditional rulers, non-indigenes, market leaders, road transport associations and unions, CDCs, CDAs, opposition party members, and PLWDS.”
Furthermore, Rep. Wale Raji reassured the constituents of his dedication to providing quality representation and fostering development in the constituency. He highlighted ongoing and upcoming projects, including the completion of 232 shops at the ancient Ayetoro market, adding that by the middle of the year, the total of the shops will have been 400.
“By the grace of God, after its completion, it will be allocated to our market men and women free of charge, just as those of Mojoda Market have been allocated 86 shops, with an additional 50 coming up to cater for others. As for the Pobo market men and women, in the next two to three months, the reconstruction of markets will begin. This will also be the case at Mowowale Market in Agbowa. Idasho township road will be constructed this year, among many others. As long as I remain your representative, I will continue to deliver quality representation,” he assured.
Rep. Wale Raji urged his constituents to remain patient amidst economic challenges, assuring them of relief and transformation through the government’s policies and initiatives.
