“A Proud Son of the Soil”: Epe Kayokayo Festival Hails Tunji Disu’s Appointment as Acting IGP.

The Coordinator of the Epe Kayokayo Festival, Barrister Bayo Saliu-Okulu, has led members of the cultural festival committee to celebrate the appointment of AIG Olatunji Disu as Nigeria’s Acting Inspector-General of Police, describing the development as a moment of pride for Epe Kingdom.

In a congratulatory statement issued on behalf of the committee and members, the festival leadership said it extended “heartfelt congratulations to our illustrious son, AIG Olatunji Disu, on his well-deserved appointment as the Acting Inspector-General of Police.”

The statement noted that the elevation, approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, is “a glowing testimony to your years of steadfast service, professional excellence, and an unyielding commitment to serve the Nigerian State.”

Reflecting on his journey in the Nigerian Police Force, the group said Disu’s career has been defined by courage and discipline, adding that, “from your early days in the Nigerian Police Force to your rise through critical command positions across the country, you have written a story of courage, discipline, and uncommon dedication.”

According to the festival leadership, his record of service gives Nigerians confidence in the future of policing. The statement expressed optimism that his tenure would “further transform and strengthen the nation’s security architecture,” assuring that his antecedents in crime control and public trust would usher in “a new chapter defined by professionalism, innovation, and people-centred policing.”

The appointment was also described as a major honour for the traditional kingdom, with the committee declaring, “as a proud son of the soil, this appointment brings immense honour to the Epe Kingdom.” The leadership added that the milestone has “filled our kingdom with pride” as they celebrate with his family, friends and well-wishers.

May your tenure be crowned with success, peace, and lasting impact on the security and unity of our beloved nation.”

The Epe Kayokayo Festival, a symbol of the town’s cultural heritage, described the appointment as not just a personal triumph for Disu but a collective celebration for the people of Epe and Lagos State at large.
