Prof. Okuneye, while expressing her commitment to boost productivity, revealed that the cleaners, who had long served on contractual terms, would now be fully absorbed into the university system, receiving official letters. The cleaning contractor is set to transition out by February 2024, ensuring a seamless integration for these dedicated workers.

Adding to the thrill, she disclosed the successful regularization of the G72 members, assuring the university community that such oversights would not recur. Emphasizing adherence to qualifications, she proudly shared that one staff member, previously misplaced, has now found the right place in the academic sphere.

“We won’t bend the rules to favour anyone. Your due will be given, and we encourage constructive criticism for continuous improvement. Peace is the cornerstone of my leadership,” Prof. Okuneye declared, setting the tone for transparency and fairness.

Highlighting the university’s commitment to progress, she underscored the importance of aligning with established conditions of service. Stressing the critical nature of foundational management, she urged a collective effort to secure a prosperous future for LASUED.

The Vice-Chancellor reiterated the importance of addressing work attitudes for the NCE program’s successful winding down. She warned against cantankerous individuals taking advantage of the transmutation process, clarifying the dissolution of MOCPED by law.

Additionally, she mandated that all NCE students graduate by December 31, 2024, both full-time and part-time across campuses, as per the directive from the Lagos State Government. The Vice-Chancellor, therefore, appealed for support and cooperation amid challenges, urging staff to approach university management for assistance when needed.

In her parting shot, Prof. Okuneye announced that payments would now validate the allocation of matriculation numbers to students. With accreditation activities on the way, she rallied all stakeholders to ensure the success of accrediting 66 courses.

Amidst the enthusiastic atmosphere, the Registrar, Mr. Akinfenwa A.O., echoed the Vice-Chancellor’s sentiments, reiterating the staff’s status as LASUED members. He emphasized the need for a strong understanding of university rules, promising sanctions for any violations.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellors of Academics and Administration, Dr. Dawodu and Dr. MA Shittu, emphasized academic integrity and dedication, calling for ethical behaviour and diligence. The Bursar, Mr. Ajose, outlined approved financial regulations, reinforcing the importance of fiscal responsibility.

Dr. Abayomi Imam, the University Librarian, discussed plans for library services, organizational enhancement, and human capital development. The Head of Campus, Dr. Viatonu, lauded Epe staffers for their resilience, highlighting recent renovations and the compassionate leadership of the Vice-Chancellor.

Union leaders, Comrades Jamal Apena, Ogunlari, and Olayemi, praised the management’s efforts in bringing smiles to affected staffers. Professors Fakolade and Ogundipe expressed support and commended the university’s commitment to objectivity and global standards.

As Epe Campus experiences a wave of positive transformation, the collective spirit of LASUED promises a bright future for all.
