Kakalistiq.com reports that the Epe Kingdom witnessed a heartwarming display of generosity as Chief Modupe Lawal, the Iya Ewe of the Epe Kingdom, reaffirmed her dedication to the welfare and health of the community. During the Kayokayo Festival’s special prayer and free health mission at the palace of the Olu-Epe of Epe Kingdom on Sunday, July 21, 2024, Chief Lawal underscored the festival’s significance in commemorating the historic arrival of King Kosoko to Epe.
Expressing her joy at returning home for the celebration after missing the Ileya festival, Chief Lawal highlighted her ongoing involvement in health missions within the community. “The festival is living up to its expectations, celebrating our heritage and supporting our people’s well-being. It’s wonderful to be back,” she said.
As a medical practitioner, Chief Lawal introduced an exercise machine to aid in blood circulation, reflecting her commitment to enhancing community health. “This machine is part of our effort to improve health outcomes here. It’s essential that we support both young and older residents,” she added.
Marking her seventh year as the Iya Ewe of Epe Kingdom, Chief Lawal shared her extensive background in nursing and biomedical science from both Nigeria and the UK. She emphasized her diverse mission to assist the community economically, socially, and medically. “My mission here is so diverse to help the people economically, socially, and medically,” she stated.
In her role as a community leader, she has recently supported orphans and underprivileged youths by providing vocational equipment, aiming to enhance their self-sufficiency and societal contribution. “It’s crucial to empower our youths with the tools they need for a better future,” she emphasized.
Chief Lawal also announced her plans to assist the disabled financially and through the provision of wheelchairs to improve their mobility. “We must ensure that everyone in our community has the support they need to thrive,” she noted.
Earlier in the day, the Grand Chief Imam of Epe Kingdom, Sheikh Abiola Sadala, led a special prayer for the community, attended by the Olu-Epe of Epe Kingdom, his Olori, and the town’s chiefs, marking the second day of the 2024 Epe Kayokayo Festival events.
One of the beneficiaries of the free medical mission, Mrs Adeola Shabi, shared her gratitude: “The health talk was enlightening, and the medical support we received today is invaluable. The Epe Kayokayo festival efforts are truly making a difference.”
A young resident, Tunde Akodu, who received vocational equipment, expressed his excitement: “This free medical support means a lot to us. It allows us to save money. I am grateful to the Epe Kayokayo festival team for their generosity.”
The second day of the Epe Kayokayo Festival highlighted the deep-seated cultural and communal values of the Epe Kingdom.
