Empowering Tomorrow’s Leaders: Hon. Abiodun Tobun’s Philanthropic Drive Inspires Epe Students

Abiodun Tobun, representing Epe Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly, brought hope and motivation to 500 students on Wednesday, March 13th, 2024. The event, organized to distribute UTME/JAMB printouts, transformed into a fortress of counselling and inspiration, leaving a lasting impact on both privileged and less-privileged students.

Sikiru Owolomoshe, International Cooperative Alliance (ICA Africa) President, High Chief Tajudeen Oriyomi Ayeola; Education District IV TG/PS, Prince Segun Osinaike; Lekki Coastal Chairman, Comrade Wasiu Ayeola; Epe LGA APC Chairman, Hon. Toyin Gbadamosi; and Hon. Abiodun Tobun himself, the atmosphere was charged with wisdom and encouragement. Stories of triumph over adversity, as told by the treasures of wisdom who graced the event, resonated deeply with the students, igniting a renewed sense of resilience and dedication to their academic pursuits.

During his address, Hon. Tobun emphasized the importance of education as the foundation for a brighter future. He urged the students to steer clear of negative influences and distractions, particularly cultism and prostitution, emphasizing the need to focus on their studies and avoid activities that could jeopardize their prospects.

“We have done our best for you; it is now left for you to seize the golden opportunity for your future,” Hon. Tobun stated, highlighting the forum’s commitment to supporting exceptional students throughout their academic journey.

The event not only witnessed the presentation of a sewing machine to a student who had acquired tailoring skills, but it also heralded the surprise announcement of the sponsorship of 20 youth to Government Technical College, a testament to Hon. Tobun’s commitment to empowerment and skill development.

High Chief Oriyomi Ayeola, commended Hon. Tobun’s initiative, stating that such acts of kindness could significantly reduce poverty levels in the country. He urged the beneficiaries to cherish the opportunity presented to them and strive for excellence in their endeavours.

The epochal event was plunged into a debate on the strict adherence to disciplinary measures at the tutorial centre, focusing on late-coming and other related issues. In his usual style,  Hon. Tobun, the Chairman, House Committee of Commerce, Industry, and Cooperatives, reiterated his commitment to allow the entrenchment of discipline by the education committee, stressing that the students must strive to complete their chores and join the tutorial class at the stipulated time.

The gathering was not just about distributing UTME forms but about instilling hope, providing guidance, and empowering the youth of Epe to reach their full potential. Hon.
