Kakalistiq.com reports that the Council Chairman of Ibeju Lekki Local Government, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, underscored the importance of discipline in achieving success in life during a Children’s Day event held at Elemoro Junior High School on Monday, May 27, 2024.
Addressing a diverse audience comprising traditional Royal Fathers, civil society groups, market women, political leaders, and members of the general public, Hon. Olowa reiterated his administration’s commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals and promoting child welfare initiatives.
Highlighting the strides made in the education sector, Hon. Olowa emphasized initiatives such as providing free exercise books, offering imprest to primary school teachers, and organizing inter-school contests. He stressed the administration’s dedication to creating an environment conducive to learning by ensuring tidy school premises. Furthermore, he pledged to uphold and protect the rights of children as a cornerstone of his administration’s agenda.
In a call to action, Hon. Olowa urged the international community to prioritize safeguarding the rights of children, especially those living in war-torn regions, who face uncertain futures.
The event witnessed a vibrant display of solidarity and celebration, with various schools participating in a march past at the mini stadium of Elemoro Junior High School. The occasion was enhanced by the stirring melodies of the Army band from the Abalti Signals Barrack, lending a touch of grandeur to the festivities.
The march past featured an array of participants, including traditional Royal Fathers led by the Onisolu of Solu Alade, Oba Muhideen Adebowale Balogun, as well as representatives from women’s groups and the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE).
Among the dignitaries present were the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Adewale Adebanjo, and other members of the Executive Council, including Hon. Olamilekan Higara, Hon. Abidemi Aromire Razaq (ARA), and Hon. Ajiwole Shefiu. The Council Manager, Mr. Oladipupo Otinwa, and other members of the management team also graced the occasion.
