Mustain Abiodun Tobun, the lawmaker representing Epe I at the Lagos State House of Assembly, has unveiled plans for the imminent upgrading of the iconic Epe General Hospital to a Federal Medical Center.
This announcement, alongside other transformative projects slated for the constituency, was made by the lawmaker in an interview at his residence in Epe on the auspicious occasion of Eid-il-Fitri celebrations on Wednesday, April 10th, 2024.
Commending the steadfastness and charitable deeds of the Muslim Ummah during the month-long fasting period, Hon. Tobun extended his appreciation to President Bola Tinubu, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, and other APC stalwarts for their unwavering efforts in implementing people-centric policies aimed at mitigating the effects of the economic downturn and uplifting the nation.
In an exclusive interview, the lawmaker disclosed groundbreaking plans for the upgrading of the Epe General Hospital to a tertiary healthcare institution, a Federal Medical Center, under the auspices of the President of Nigeria, with support from the Minister of Finance.
“Approval has been granted by the President, and we are poised to commence work immediately after the House resumes from the Eid celebration break,” he stated emphatically. “Upon completion, the hospital will be handed over to the Federal Government, equipped with state-of-the-art machinery, facilities, and personnel, thus bolstering healthcare accessibility for residents of Epe and Ikorodu divisions, while also relieving the strain on medical facilities in Lagos.”
Highlighting further developmental strides, Hon. Tobun revealed plans for the enhancement of educational institutions, particularly the Government Technical College, Odomola. “We are in talks with the Board of Technical Education to upgrade facilities and align curriculum to meet the demands of industries, particularly those at the Lekki Free Trade Zone,” he elaborated. “Our commitment to progress is unwavering, and we shall spare no effort in ensuring the betterment of our constituency.”
The lawmaker also touched on infrastructure projects aimed at improving transportation and connectivity within Epe, including the imminent completion of a jetty and the opening of the Omu Creek from Abijoi via Oko-Abe to Ito-Omu, to ease traffic congestion and foster community expansion in virgin land areas.
As the Eid-il-Fitri celebrations brought together political stakeholders, religious leaders, and esteemed political stalwarts, Hon. Tobun seized the opportunity to extend felicitations and prayers for prosperity, urging all to embrace unity and eschew criminal tendencies.
He expressed gratitude to the public for their unwavering support and reiterated confidence in the leadership of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, affirming their collective ability to steer the country towards the promised land of progress and prosperity.
