Epe Gears Up for Epic Showdown as Papa FC vs. Recreation FC Clash in Idera Dee Ramadan Football Finale

Epe Local Government, the iconic fish basket of Lagos, kakalistiq.com reports, is set to explode with football fever tomorrow, April 14th, 2024, as arch-rivals Papa FC and Recreation FC prepare to lock horns in a titanic battle. Organized by the dynamic Chief Host and Commissioner III of the Lagos State Teaching Service Commission, Hon. Olusegun Agbaje, this showdown promises to dazzle spectators with a display of football prowess as both teams will showcase their fluid moves, rock-solid defence, and precision passes and dribbles.

Under the Host, the charismatic Chairman of Epe Local Government, Princess Surah Olayemi Animashaun, the 17th edition of the Idera Dee Ramadan Football Competition kicked off on Saturday, March 16th, 2024. Despite the challenges posed by the Ramadan fasting season and scorching heat waves, football enthusiasts gathered at the Salako football field to witness thrilling displays of resilience, dedication, and skill.

The tournament, organized by the local organizing committee chairman, Dr. Adefuye Michael, in collaboration with the Epe Divisional Football Association (EDFA), led by its chairman, Mr. Felix Adekoya, with the invaluable support of Prince Segun Oshinaike (TG/PS, Education District IV, Lagos), has been marked by its fair share of twists and turns, including suspensions, fines, and disciplinary measures.

Drawing participants from various age groups across local communities, streets, and neighbourhoods such as Oke-Balogun, Popo-Oba, Ibonwon, Oloja, Agbala/Ojota, and Erepoto. The competition, which also featured Papa/Shagari Estate, Poka, Etitun/Nitel, Recreation, Iraye, Temu, Noforija, Salako, Eyindi, and Odo-Iragunshin, has showcased Epe’s rich football talent.


Tomorrow’s highly anticipated match coming up by 3 pm will see the victor walk away with a staggering cash prize of 1 million Naira, while the first and second runners-up will receive 500 thousand and 250 thousand Naira, respectively. Additionally, standout performers, including the Highest Goalscorer, Best Player, and Best Goalkeeper, will be honoured with medals, including a coveted golden ball and golden glove.


Epe residents are urged to flock to the Salako field to witness, amidst tight security, this historic event filled with anticipation, suspense, drama, and the spirit of sportsmanship. The tournament, a cherished tradition over the past 17 years, is a testament to the fusion of politics, youth empowerment, and sports development in Epe.
