Held on Saturday, December 30th, 2023, at the Awolowo-Way Clubhouse in Epe, the event, which also featured the presentation of bursary awards to deserving indigent students, witnessed the president’s impassioned words on the historical significance of the club, its commitment to education, and the pivotal role it plays in advancing communal interests.

“Let me give a brief historical perspective on the creation of the club by the founding fathers. Their primary focus and cardinal principle was education, and this is not surprising because, in pursuit of their sojourn both within the country and abroad, they are all mostly professionals.

“They saw education both individually and collectively as the foundation of the development of their community, whether politically, socially, or economically, and as a basis for communal prosperity and enlightenment. This gave birth to their commitment to the scholarship and bursary award that we are celebrating,” he said.

Acknowledging the financial members, especially the Executive Committee, Barrister Ibrahim praised their efforts in sustaining the club’s enduring legacy. He recognized their commitment to regular meetings, the improvement of standards, and the ongoing development of the new clubhouse. However, he called on members with outstanding financial obligations to fulfill them, seeking additional support to complete the project.

“I, therefore, call on members who have outstanding financial obligations to please pay up while we solicit further support from other members to assist in completing this common heritage and enable us to sustain the enviable position of our founding fathers,” he said.

Expressing gratitude for the wisdom of elders and the generous contributions of members, Barrister Ibrahim emphasized the club’s unique role in advancing communal interests. He urged members to unite and collaborate to achieve the club’s commendable goals for community development.

The president concluded with a call for continued support, stating, “As ‘Oliver Twist,’ we will continue to ask for more, and we wish to say a ‘Big Thank You’ to all.”

Barrister Ibrahim’s address served as a rallying call for members to unite and collaborate towards achieving laudable goals for the progress of the Epe community.
