EPWA Hails Olu-Epe on Kayokayo Festival, Urges Women to Foster Unity and Preserve Cultural Heritage

Kakalistiq.com reports that the Epe Professional Women Association (EPWA) has lauded the Olu-Epe of Epe Kingdom, HRM Oba Dr. Shefiu Adewale, Bamgbopa Eshilokun I, on the joyous occasion of the 2024 Epe Kayokayo Festival. The association, led by Mrs Opeoluwa Balogun, highlighted the festival’s theme of unity in diversity as a cornerstone of Epe’s cultural and social fabric.

“The Kayokayo Festival is a beautiful manifestation of our community’s unity in diversity,” stated Mrs. Balogun. “We are incredibly proud of our revered monarch, the Olu-Epe, for his unwavering commitment to fostering harmony and progress in Epe.”

Mrs. Balogun called upon the women of Epe to leverage their influential roles as homemakers to promote love, togetherness, and unity during and beyond the festival period. “As women and homemakers, we have a unique and powerful role in shaping the moral and cultural foundations of our society. Let us use this opportunity to entrench values of love and unity in our homes and communities,” she urged.

Reflecting on the vital role of women in preserving cultural heritage, Mrs. Balogun emphasized that the Kayokayo Festival serves as an exemplary platform for showcasing Epe’s rich traditions. “The festival is not just a celebration; it is a reaffirmation of our commitment to preserving and promoting our cultural heritage. Women, as custodians of tradition and nurturers of the next generation, are instrumental in this endeavour,” she said.

She added, “By actively participating in and supporting the Kayokayo Festival and other ones in the community, women ensure that the stories, values, and traditions of our ancestors are passed down and remain vibrant. This cultural continuity is essential for fostering a strong, unified, and resilient community.”

The EPWA also commended the tireless efforts of the festival organizers and the entire Epe community for their dedication to making the Kayokayo Festival a beacon of unity and cultural pride. The association expressed its optimism that the festival would continue to inspire and unite the people of Epe for many years to come.
