Akinloye made the appeal on Wednesday during the Annual Ramadan Public Lecture organised by the Unified Local Government Muslim Staff Association, Lagos State, Eredo LCDA chapter. The lecture, themed “Be Muslim Enough,” was delivered by Professor Tajudeen Olalekan Yusuf, who highlighted the numerous significance of being a Muslim for the greater good of governance at the grassroots and society at large.

The event brought together the executive, management and legislative team of the LCDA, Muslim faithful, council staff and community stakeholders in a reflective gathering aimed at strengthening faith and promoting ethical conduct in public service.

Serving as Chief Host, Hon. Akinloye noted that the lecture is part of a unified programme held across the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 LCDAs in Lagos State, stressing that Eredo could not afford to be left out of such a spiritually uplifting initiative.

“It’s a unified programme across the 20 Local Governments and 37 LCDAs in Lagos State, and of course Eredo cannot be an exception,” he said. “We must continue to support programmes that put smiles on the faces of our people.”

Speaking during an interview on the sidelines of the event, the chairman advised council workers to uphold integrity and the fear of God at all times, not only during Ramadan.

“There is fear of God, especially during the month of Ramadan. But it should not end there,” he said. “The fear of God must reflect in our daily activities. Whatever we know is wrong during Ramadan should remain wrong even after Ramadan. We must learn to do the right thing at the right time and at all times.”

Beyond the spiritual message, Akinloye also highlighted key development plans for the LCDA, with particular focus on environmental sanitation and infrastructural improvement.

According to him, the council is intensifying efforts to tackle indiscriminate refuse disposal and environmental degradation across communities in Eredo.

To achieve this, the chairman disclosed that the council has acquired a compactor to improve waste management and eliminate environmental nuisances.

He recalled that during his first tenure, Eredo emerged as the cleanest suburban local government area in Lagos State, an achievement that earned the council a vehicle reward from the state government.

Akinloye also revealed that his administration has begun executing several infrastructural projects in its second term, including road construction and solar-powered streetlight installations to improve connectivity and security in rural communities.

“We have embarked on road construction, not just roads but long connectivity roads, some powered by solar lights, especially in communities like Odogbawojo,” he explained.

He further disclosed that the council has procured graders and other heavy-duty equipment to grade rural roads across the LCDA, while promising more projects in the coming months.
