Earlier today, it was revealed that Arafat Onibon was awarded the esteemed Ken Swift Prize 2023/24, recognizing her outstanding achievements in her degree program. The Ken Swift Prize is awarded to an Engineering student whose project or design demonstrates significant real-world potential and societal impact. Winners are selected based on their ingenuity, innovation, and ability to address pressing societal challenges through engineering solutions.

In addition to the Ken Swift Prize, Arafat was honoured with the Best Honours Stage Academic Performance in Medical Engineering award for 2023/24. This accolade is presented to the student with the highest grade in level 6 of BEng or MEng Biomedical Engineering or Mechanical and Medical Engineering.

“I am delighted to inform you that you have been awarded the Best Honours Stage Academic Performance in Medical Engineering award 2023/24 in recognition of your outstanding achievement in Medical Engineering. This award is given to the student with the highest grade at level 6 registered on BEng or MEng Biomedical Engineering or Mechanical and Medical Engineering. On behalf of the Faculty of Science and Engineering, I would like to congratulate you on your excellent performance. A certificate of achievement will be sent to you in the next few weeks, therefore please provide your current postal address by the return of e-mail. Arafat Onibon earned her B.Eng in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Hull, UK, graduating with first-class honours and emerging as the best-graduating student in Engineering.
