Governor Sanwoolu Crowns the First Alakodo: A New Era Begins in Akodo Town Amidst Calls for Cooperation.

Kakalistiq.com reports that Tuesday, July 9, 2024, marked a historic and joyous occasion for Akodo town as HRM Oba Abdulhakeem Babatunde Olokodana was installed as the first traditional ruler of the community.

The Lagos State Governor, His Excellency Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu, represented by the Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Rural Development, Mr. Bolaji Kayode Roberts, presented the new monarch with the instrument of appointment and staff of office.

Delivering the governor’s message, Mr Bolaji Roberts lauded the fair and transparent selection process for the Obaship, celebrating it as a seamless and exemplary model. Governor Sanwoolu extended his heartfelt congratulations to the people of Akodo, urging them to rally behind their newly installed king to foster communal progress.

He commended Oba Abdulhakeem Babatunde Olokodana, encouraging him to unite the community for the kingdom’s collective development. The governor assured the people that the state administration remains committed to upholding tradition and delivering democratic dividends.

Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, Chairman of Ibeju Lekki Local Government, expressed his gratitude to Governor Sanwoolu for prioritizing the development of Ibeju Lekki, noting the recent installation of seven kings as a testament to this commitment. Hon. Olowa called on the sons and daughters of Akodo to support their new king, expressing his hopes for a reign marked by unprecedented success for Akodo and the greater Ibeju Lekki region.

Speaking during an interview, he said: “The installation of Oba Abdulhakeem Babatunde Olokodana as the Alakodo of Akodo represents a significant affirmation of traditional sovereignty by the Lagos State Governor. This act reinforces the importance of our cultural heritage and the vital role of traditional rulers in fostering peace and progress. I urge all community members to embrace cooperation and unity under the leadership of our new king, as these values are essential for the sustained development and harmony of Akodo and beyond.”

The installation ceremony was graced by an array of dignitaries, including traditional royal fathers, Baales in Council, legislators, executive cabinet members, management staff, and political leaders. The event concluded with a collective commitment to support Oba Abdulhakeem Babatunde Olokodana, heralding a new chapter of prosperity and unity for Akodo town.
