Hon. Abiodun Tobun Commends EPWA’s Impact as Association Empowers Women in Epe Division.

Abiodun Tobun, the Lagos State House of Assembly member representing Epe Constituency I, lauded the remarkable contributions of the Epe Division Professional Women Association (EPWA) towards uplifting women in society.

Speaking at the EPWA Business Support for Epe Divisional Women event held at the Eredo LCDA Multipurpose Hall on Saturday, April 27, 2024, attended by dignitaries including Professor Basirat Oladipupo, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Admin) LASUSTECH, Mrs Funke Moore, former GM, Radio Lagos/Eko FM, Mrs Kemi Adedeji, and others, Hon. Tobun expressed profound appreciation for the association’s endeavours in fostering community development through empowerment programs.

As Chairman of the day, Hon. Abiodun Tobun extolled the tireless efforts of EPWA in providing hope and empowerment to the vulnerable in society. He commended their dedication and acknowledged the privilege of chairing such a significant event.

“We must appreciate your efforts. You are helping the government build the community; you are helping the government empower the community. You are also helping us, the political office holders. These are what we are supposed to be doing repeatedly until our people are fully empowered and fully engaged,” he remarked.

Highlighting the critical role of women in societal progress, Hon. Tobun emphasized that empowering women not only strengthens individual households but also fosters safer, more secure, and prosperous communities. He reaffirmed his unwavering commitment, alongside his family, to support EPWA’s noble cause by mobilizing necessary resources.

Concluding his speech, he showered praise upon Chief Jumoke Rasak, commending her astute political prowess. He underscored the significance of active political engagement for all members of society, emphasizing that neglecting this duty could pave the way for undesired candidates to seize control and influence the trajectory of community development and prosperity.

In her address, the President of EPWA, Mrs. Opeoluwa Balogun, underscored the association’s mission to champion the rights of female children and women in the Epe division of Lagos State. She emphasized EPWA’s dedication to enhancing the usefulness and societal integration of female children while striving to eradicate poverty among women in the division

Mrs. Balogun outlined the association’s strategic approach, which includes collaborating with local artisans and craftsmen to identify genuine beneficiaries of empowerment initiatives. She urged recipients to maximize the opportunities provided by the equipment distributed, emphasizing the potential for improved livelihoods and socioeconomic well-being.

Looking ahead, Mrs. Balogun reiterated EPWA’s commitment to mentoring the girl child and empowering women to break the cycle of poverty. She emphasized the importance of education and vocational training in fostering self-reliance and economic independence among women.

Echoing these sentiments, Chief Jumoke Razak (Jummy K) emphasized the need for focus and dedication among EPWA members, emphasizing the association’s concerted efforts to impact lives positively. She urged women to pursue education and vocational training as pathways to empowerment and financial freedom.

The event witnessed the distribution of sewing and grinding machines to women in the Epe division, symbolizing a tangible step towards economic empowerment and self-sufficiency.
