Ibadan Explosion: Yoruba Council Extends Condolence to Oyo State Governor, Calls for Action in the Wake of Devastating Incident.

In a heartfelt response to the tragic bomb blast that shook Ibadan on January 16, 2024, Kakalistiq.com reports that Aare Oladotun Hassan, Esq., President of the Yoruba Council Worldwide, expressed profound condolences to the people of Oyo State and Governor Seyi Makinde.

Reacting to the tragedy in a statement, Aare Oladotun Hassan welcomed President Bola Tinubu’s decision to initiate a comprehensive investigation into the incident. He added that the Yoruba Council Worldwide leadership is in full support of a thorough examination to uncover the root cause and prevent future occurrences.

The statement extended heartfelt sympathy to the families of the victims, acknowledging both the deceased and the injured. It commended Governor Seyi Makinde for the prompt medical care, emergency accommodation, and welfare measures provided to the victims.

Aare Oladotun made a strong appeal for sustained efforts in security provision, forensic assessments, and the reconstruction of damaged buildings. The Yoruba Council Worldwide urged government intervention and called upon private and corporate entities to support the blast victims with relief materials and palliative assistance.

“We strongly believe in President Bola Tinubu’s decision to conduct a robust and diligent investigation to be carried out in unravelling and establishing the remote cause responsible for this devastating and painful blast causing monumental loss of precious lives and valuable properties, while adequate steps must be taken to forestall future occurrences.

“We equally use this medium to commiserate with the families of the victims, both dead and injured, while using this medium to commend Governor Seyi Makinde for his swift and sound medical care, emergency accommodation for victims, and welfare accorded to the injured wherever they are being treated.

“We strongly appeal for continuous action on the provision of adequate security and forensic assessments, as well as the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the damaged buildings by the Oyo State Government and Federal Government, while soliciting private and corporate support and interventions in the area of the provision of relief materials and palliative supports for the vulnerable bomb blast victims.” the statement read in part.

 

Highlighting the broader issue of illegal mining, the statement appealed to the Federal Government to establish an Anti-Illegal Mining Task Force in every local government, emphasizing the protection of lives and resources.

The Yoruba Council Worldwide offered prayers for the departed souls, strength for grieving families, and a swift recovery for the injured.
