In a bid to address the pressing traffic challenges in Ibeju Lekki, Kakalistic.com reports that the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA) has inaugurated a new Zonal Command, Zone 44, in the area. This development comes after a productive visit by the new Zonal Commander to the Executive Chairman of Ibeju Lekki Local Government, Hon. (Engr) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa.

Hon. Sesan Olowa

Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, the Chairman of Ibeju Lekki Local Government, has been proactive in finding solutions to the current and future traffic issues in the region. Earlier this year, the Council Chairman and his team engaged with LASTMA authorities to advocate for the establishment of a zonal command to tackle the escalating traffic congestion. To support this initiative, the local government generously provided a yard and an office space for LASTMA in Orimedu.

The newly established Zonal Command, Zone 44, will oversee traffic management operations from Sangotedo, bordering Ibeju Lekki, up to Okegun Madagbayun and Lekki LCDA.

Reacting to the development in a short interview on Monday, February 26, 2024, Hon. Sesan Olowa said:
“We are delighted to see the establishment of the new LASTMA Zonal Command in Ibeju Lekki. This initiative highlights our commitment to ensuring the safety and convenience of residents and commuters in our local government. By collaborating with LASTMA, we aim to alleviate traffic congestion and enhance the overall quality of life in our community,”

The deployment of traffic management officers to the busy highways of Ibeju Lekki promises several benefits for the local community. Firstly, it will enhance road safety by regulating traffic flow and reducing the risk of accidents. Additionally, it will improve commuters’ travel experiences by minimizing congestion and easing journey times. Furthermore, the presence of LASTMA in the area is expected to boost economic activities by ensuring smoother transportation of goods and services.

The inauguration of the new LASTMA Zonal Command in Ibeju Lekki marks a significant step towards addressing traffic challenges and improving road safety in the area. With collaborative efforts between the local government and LASTMA, residents can look forward to smoother and safer journeys along the busy highways.
