In a bid to elevate primary education in Lagos State, kakalistiq.com reports that the Chairman of the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LASUBEB), Dr. Hakeem Shittu, has underscored the government’s commitment to integrating technology into educational practices.
Speaking at LASUED Noforija-Epe Campus on Monday, May 13th, 2024, at the structured promotion training for primary school teachers in Grades 10 and 12 for Epe, Ibeju, Ikorodu, Lagos Island, and Eti-Osa LGEAs organised in collaboration with the Public Service Staff Development Center and Lagos State Ministry of Establishment and Training, Dr. Shittu emphasized the critical role of technology in fostering a conducive teaching and learning environment for students across the state.
In an interview, Dr. Shittu highlighted the government’s agenda encapsulated in the THEMES+ initiative and emphasized the paramount importance of education and technology. He reiterated, “A better future awaits our students with the use of technology to ensure that we have good teaching and learning.” The Chairman emphasized the administration’s dedication to providing effective facilities and empowering teachers with the necessary skills to compete globally.
Dr. Shittu further lauded the efforts of Rep. Wale Raji, the member representing Epe Federal Constituency, for his proactive stance in enhancing educational infrastructure. He commended the renovation of the Army Children Primary School in Epe as a commendable initiative, urging other political stakeholders to emulate such actions for the collective benefit of the populace.
“Hon. Wale Raji has done a lot; I went around to see, and I am very happy that today our students are learning under very good, conducive, and safe conditions. I want to give him kudos and encourage other people to follow suit to ensure that we contribute our own quota to ensuring that our students are learning under good conditions,” he stated.
Addressing the participants, Dr. Shittu emphasized the significance of upskilling teachers’ knowledge to align with the THEMES+ agenda’s objectives, ensuring no child is left behind. He urged them to seize the opportunity to enhance their skills and navigate their careers successfully. He added that the practical application of acquired knowledge was sacrosanct, thereby encouraging active participation to foster a culture of discipline and excellence. “They need to be here in their mind and spirit so that whatever they are learning here today, they should be able to practicalize and imbibe it to assist them in navigating their career in service for a successful career life,” he stated.
The LASUBEB Chairman also commended Mrs. Adenlewa Olufunke, Head of Administration and Human Resources, for her proactive approach in organizing the training. With facilitators and officials present, including Hon. Aliu Shittu Idowu (SAICO) Epe LGEA Education Secretary, Mr. Sholaru, Mr. Ajakaye, Mr. Demilade, Mr. Yinka, Mr. Agbaje, and Mr. Adekoya P.O., the Year 2024 promotion structured training signifies a significant step towards revitalizing primary education in Lagos State.
