LASUED Student Clinches Victory in National Yoruba Essay & Orthography Contest, Celebrated by College Dean, HODs.

In a momentous announcement via the college Whatsapp platform, Dr. Dayo Akanmu, Head of the Nigerian Languages Department at LASUED, and the P.R.O. of the National Association of Yoruba Studies of Nigeria shared the exhilarating news with the college community, attributing the victory to divine grace. He revealed that Damilola emerged victorious in the Yoruba Orthography competition, surpassing students from renowned institutions such as UI, OAU, UNILAG, OOU, TASUED, and LASU.

Reacting to the exciting development, Dr. Taofek Yusuff, the Dean of the College of Languages and Communication Arts, expressed profound delight at Damilola’s exceptional achievement, hailing her as a beacon of pride for the university. He extended heartfelt congratulations to Damilola and commended the entire department for their support and dedication.

According to reports, the event was graced by dignitaries from various spheres, particularly Mrs. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, the Deputy Governor of Ogun State, who represented her boss, Governor Dapo Abiodun. During the proceedings, Dr. Fajenyo, serving as the Secretary of the occasion, urged the Ogun State Governor to emulate the educational initiatives undertaken by Lagos State-owned higher institutions, particularly in teaching Yoruba as General Studies.

Additionally, the event witnessed the presence of the President of the Association of Scholars in Nigerian Higher Institutions, the president of Egbe Akomolede Yoruba, and distinguished professors representing various institutions across Nigeria, who also graced the occasion with their presence, adding to the academic richness of the gathering.

Dr. Akanmu expressed gratitude to the LASUED community for their overwhelming support and solidarity with Damilola and the Department of Nigerian Languages Education. He disclosed that Damilola received her accolades and rewards during a ceremony held at the University of Ibadan, marking a momentous occasion for LASUED and its distinctive academic prowess.
