Lekki LCDA Chairman Highlights Key Takeaways from Local Government Summit
Kakalistiq.com reports that Hon. (Engr.) Rasaq Bamidele Kasali, Executive Chairman of Lekki Local Council Development Area (LCDA), shared his insights after attending the Lagos State Local Government Service Commission Summit held at Jubilee Chalet, Epe, Lagos, from May 29th to 31st.
The summit, themed “Enhancing Sustainable Service Delivery in the Local Government and Local Council Development Areas in the State,” gathered key stakeholders in local government administration.
Attendees included the Chairman and members of the Lagos State Local Government Service Commission, the President of the Association of Local Government Chairmen in Nigeria (ALGON), other local council chairmen, the Lagos State Accountant General, members of the Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Appropriation, and various council stakeholders.
According to him, Hon. Kamal Bayewu, Chairman of the Commission, emphasized the necessity of unity among council chairmen and staff. He highlighted the importance of staff supporting their chairmen to foster a collaborative environment conducive to sustainable service delivery.
Renowned actor and politician Hon. Desmond Elliott, he noted, delivered a compelling address, stressing the need for harmony and mutual support among council officials, including chairmen, councillors, supervisors, managers, treasurers, and heads of departments. Elliott advocated for accountability and transparency, which he argued would lead to effective administration and overall progress in local government.
Throughout the summit, Engr. Kasali averred that participants engaged in dynamic discussions, exchanging ideas and best practices aimed at enhancing sustainable service delivery in local government areas. They benefited from the shared experiences of other council chairmen and stakeholders, making the summit a valuable and enriching experience, he added.
Hon. Kasali further expressed his commitment to applying the insights and strategies discussed at the summit to improve service delivery at Lekki LCDA. He believes these measures will significantly enhance the quality of services provided to residents and contribute to the overall development of the local government.
