In a strategic move to revamp the aging infrastructure of the historic Epe Divisional Police Station, kakalistiq.com reports that Rep. Wale Raji, Member of the House of Representatives for Epe Federal Constituency, today paid a courtesy visit to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police.
The visit was centered on introducing the proposal to construct a modern Nigeria Police Force (NPF) prototype building in the Epe Division as part of the constituency’s ongoing development projects.
Speaking during the meeting, Rep. Raji emphasized the importance of the project. “The Epe Divisional Police Station has served our community since the colonial era, and it’s time to modernize its facilities. The NPF prototype building will not only enhance security but also boost the operational efficiency of our police officers, providing them with the right environment to serve and protect.”
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ishola Olanrewaju appreciated the lawmaker’s initiative, commending his vision for aligning with the NPF’s goal of improving security infrastructure across the state. The commissioner, however, recommended that the project be report to the Inspector General of Police for official references and support, ensuring that all procedures are followed smoothly.
Aware that the population of Epe is growing rapidly as corroborated by the new Epe Police DPO, CSP Benjamin Ayeni, the police commissioner said, “We must ensure that any new structure is designed to meet these changes while also adhering to NPF specifications. Additionally, land availability for the project must be considered to avoid delays.”
Rep. Raji responded positively, assuring the commissioner that all suggestions would be taken into account. “We are committed to ensuring this project follows the right channels, meets specifications, and is executed without delay,” he remarked.
Rep. Raji further highlighted the numerous benefits of overhauling the police station, noting that the upgraded facility will reinforce security across the entire Epe Division. “A modern police station is crucial for ensuring the safety of our constituents. The NPF prototype building will not only represent the future of policing in Nigeria but also provide a structure that can serve the community for generations.”
Both CP Olanrewaju and CSP Benjamin lauded the legislator’s foresight, emphasizing that this project would significantly improve security measures for the residents of Epe Federal Constituency.
With the courtesy visit marking the first step towards transforming Epe’s policing infrastructure, the proposal signals a bright future for both law enforcement and community safety in the region.
