www.kakalistiq.com reports that the Agbowa community celebrated a major stride toward progress as Rep. Wale Raji, championing his Parliamentary Intervention Project (PIP), led the groundbreaking of Mowowale Market in an arrangement that will earn local traders free allocation.
Held in commemoration of the annual Agbowa-Ikosi Day in Saturday 9th November, 2024, the ceremony underscored a shared vision for community-driven development in Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA. Traditional leaders from across Epe, Lagos State and beyond gathered, drawn by the promise of growth and self-sustenance that the new marketplace represents.
Rep. Wale Raji began the ceremony with a show of respect for Agbowa’s deep cultural roots, honoring HRM Barr. Oba Saheed Momson, the Abowa of Agbowa Kingdom, and HRM Oba Babatunde Balogun, the Elejinrin of Ejinrin Kingdom. The ceremony took on a symbolic tone, merging Agbowa’s rich heritage with a future-ready agenda.
The Abowa of Agbowa, HRM Oba Momson, praised Raji’s dedication, acknowledging the lawmaker’s proactive efforts to keep the community informed about project progress. “As for the projects you’ve embarked upon, they’re visible for everyone to see,” Oba Momson remarked, commending Raji’s transparency amid project delays.
With contractors back on site, optimism surged for continued improvements. “By God’s grace, I’m very positively minded that in the next three, four years, there’ll be total transformation in Agbowa Ikosi. Clearly, you’re representing us very, very well,” he affirmed.
In an interview, Rep. Raji expressed that the market development embodies government’s fundamental goal: enhancing welfare and security. “Representation is all about making positive impacts, promoting the development of our people and taking them from the level they were to another level,” he stated.
He described the new market as a vital move to secure local economic control and empower small traders. “The market stalls will be given out to our people free of charge,” he assured, citing the importance of shielding local merchants from external developers and sustaining Agbowa’s economy at the grassroots level.
The lawmaker further emphasized that the Agbowa-Ikosi Day festivities, which once focused on fanfare, should now fuel a mission for long-term growth. “Agbowa Day should not be limited to merry-making. It should be focused on the development of Agbowa community. It should be an opportunity for us to set developmental agenda and review progress made in that regard,” Raji explained. He pledged that by next year, the market and other projects would be fully operational, symbolizing the growth of Agbowa’s community-driven agenda.
With the backing of leaders like Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA Chairman Akogun Wale Raji-Anomo, the project has rallied community support and set a tone of solidarity across Epe and beyond.
For Agbowa’s future, Mowowale Market’s groundbreaking marks not only the start of construction but also a bold commitment to a lasting legacy.
