Kakalistiq.com reports that Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance, and Other Financial Institutions, was presented with the esteemed Oriwu Club President’s Award on Saturday. The award recognizes Senator Abiru’s exceptional contributions to human capital development, socio-economic progress, and infrastructure enhancement in the Ikorodu Division and the Lagos East Senatorial District.
The President of Oriwu Club, Engr. Amid Adekunle Oduborisa, praised Senator Abiru’s remarkable achievements, describing them as unprecedented in the history of the Lagos East Senatorial District. He emphasized the senator’s crucial role as an eminent member of the club, contributing significantly to the success of key projects such as the Agbala Health Centre reconstruction, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the club in September 2023.
Engr. Oduborisa also commended Senator Abiru and his wife, Mrs. Feyisola, for the groundbreaking SAIL Innovation Lab project, placing Ikorodu on the global map of tech and digital innovations. The President expressed pride in having Senator Abiru represent the Ikorodu Division in the Nigerian Senate.
Dr. Tunji Alausa, the Honourable Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare and an awardee himself, acknowledged Senator Abiru’s impactful leadership, stating, “Senator Abiru has done a lot for Ikorodu and beyond.”
Hon. (Mrs.) Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), also a special guest, praised Senator Abiru’s quality legislative interventions and endowment projects, affirming his effective representation of the people.
Other distinguished awardees included Mr. Wole Sebioba, Hon. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, and Sir David Sunmoni, FCA. The event was graced by notable dignitaries, including HRM Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi, HRM Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, HRM Oba Bashir Aremu Shotonwa, Chairman of Oriwu Club Board of Trustees Engr. Sir (Chief) Omokayode Shoderu, Otunba Saheed Oladapo Ibikunle, P.hd., and eminent members of Oriwu Club.
