In a recent tour across the Epe Federal Constituency, kakalistiq.com reports that residents and stakeholders alike have expressed their deep appreciation for the remarkable infrastructural developments facilitated by Rep. Wale Raji.
The lawmaker, known for his qualitative leadership, attributes his success to the invaluable feedback and support from his constituents, coupled with divine guidance from God.
During a series of stakeholder engagements held during the week, it was revealed that several road projects are set to commence next week in key areas, including Idasho township road in Ibeju-Lekki; Alhaji Shittu Komaadan Street in Agric, Epe; Muritala Bada Street in Erepoto, Epe; Ogunmefun Street in Papa, Epe; and Tolani Agbaje Street in Noforija, Eredo LCDA.
Addressing road construction challenges at Tolani Agbaje Street, Engineer Tope Odeyemi addressed concerns regarding the road construction, particularly the absence of two-sided concrete drains. “The road’s setting is complicated by a building on the street, and since the government isn’t prepared to compensate for any demolition, we’ll have to manage the situation,” Odeyemi explained, assuring residents that all necessary precautions will be taken to mitigate any obstructions.
Community praise for infrastructural brilliance took center stage at the meeting. as residents were effusive in their praise for Rep. Wale Raji’s efforts. APC Chieftain, Mrs. Stella Odudolapo commended the legislator for his exceptional work, saying, “This road will benefit not just residents but visitors too, making movement much easier. Rep. Wale Raji has truly upped his legislative brilliance with these infrastructure projects.”
Hon. Giwa Liafiz, popularly known as Epe, also lauded the lawmaker, stating, “Facilitating over twenty roads in this constituency is unprecedented. Rep. Wale Raji’s dedication to Epe’s development is admirable, and the resilience of his team is evident in the strides we’ve seen.”
On his part, Engineer Habeeb, the Contractor, pleaded for Cooperation, emphasizing the importance of a smooth working environment. “Any hindrance may lead to the relocation of the project to another area,” he warned. He also praised the constituents for having such a dedicated legislator, noting, “In other places, projects of this magnitude might be diverted for personal gain, but here, the focus is on community benefit.”
Also, traditional leaders and political stakeholders were not left out in the show of support. High Chief Lateef Gberefu, Head of the 23 Olorituns in Epe, expressed his amazement at the progress in the constituency. “I was surprised when Rep. Wale Raji personally called to ask about the street’s name before construction. This level of attention to detail is unprecedented,” he remarked, offering prayers for the legislator’s continued success.
Hon. Agbaraojo, also known as Banka, echoed these sentiments, urging the contractor to consider the terrain and potential flooding issues. He thanked Rep. Wale Raji for considering the less privileged through the construction of affordable lock up shops at Ayetoro market.
He pointed out that although the MHR is not the only qualified technocrat capable of serving in this political role within the constituency, changing leadership would be detrimental. A new representative would likely face a four-year wait to secure projects due to their lower ranking in the House.
“At 70, I’ve never seen a state road project like the one facilitated by Rep. Wale Raji in this ward. His intervention in primary education and infrastructure shows his commitment to the less privileged,” Banka noted.
Otunba Olusesi, the Senior Legislative Aide on Projects, urged residents to cooperate for the greater good. “Collective progress requires some sacrifices. We’ve seen delays before, like the halted primary school construction at Temu due to a land dispute. Let’s not let that happen again,” he advised.
Hon. Seriki Olabowale (Kelekele) also called on the community to support the legislator and the APC for sustained growth. In a similar vein, Hon. Alogba, former Vice Chairman of Lekki LCDA, encouraged political party faithful to prioritize long-term infrastructure over short-term palliatives, stating, “The road at Komaadan Street is a legacy worth more than any palliative. It’s an investment for generations to come.”
The new road projects will feature 1×7 meter concrete drainage on both sides, with asphalt rather than interlocking paving.
Several completed road construction projects in the constituency are now awaiting commissioning. These projects include the construction of Babatunde Bakare Street, Edatomola Street, Uraka Street 1 & 2, and Dauda Buhari Street, all within Epe. Additionally, the Ise/Igbogun Road, Folu/Ise Road, and the bridge at Oguntedo Community have also been constructed. Notably, the Epe/Ketu/Itoikin Road has undergone reconstruction to improve connectivity within the area.
In the Eredo area, several roads have been constructed and are ready for use. These include Odoshiwola Road, Aye Road in Imokun, and the Iraye/Lasu Link Roads, which consist of Aina Abidakun Street, Prince Wale Adenusi Street, and Dr. Nosiru Onibon Street. Other completed projects in Eredo are Adekunle Tobun Street, Ladi Akintola Street, and Kula Nla Road in Odomola.
