In a bold stride toward bolstering community safety and national security, the lawmaker representing Epe Federal Constituency, Rep. Wale Raji, has commissioned a newly constructed, state-of-the-art Epe Divisional Police Headquarters, built to improve operational efficiency and create a more conducive environment for police personnel in the district.
The modern facility, which now stands as a symbol of progress and security, has been named after the late AIG Ganiyu Atanda Agbaje (Rtd.), the first indigene of Epe to rise to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police: a move that immortalizes his trailblazing legacy in the Nigeria Police Force.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Rep. Raji revealed that the project was born out of a simple visit to the old police station after a request from the Divisional Police Officer for furniture assistance. “The DPO asked me to assist with furniture, but when I got to the station, I was not impressed with what I saw. That was what brought about this project. Our police officers deserve a befitting working environment,” he said.
He commended the Epe Division of the Nigeria Police Force for their relentless dedication to community safety and peacekeeping efforts.
“There used to be cultists terrorising this community, but that is now a thing of the past because our youths are becoming more responsible and useful to the growth of Epe,” he noted, applauding the officers for drastically reducing crime in the area.

Rep. Raji underscored that the initiative aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing it as a contribution to the administration’s ongoing mission to strengthen national security.
“This is to support the efforts of Mr President towards making life better for all Nigerians and ensuring we live in a safe and secure environment. Without security, every other aspect of life becomes difficult,” he affirmed.
Paying glowing tribute to the late AIG Agbaje, the lawmaker described him as a beacon of excellence whose discipline and service continue to inspire generations.
“AIG Agbaje made Epe proud. He motivated many of our sons into the police force, and like our national anthem says, the labour of our heroes shall never be in vain,” Raji stated, urging young people to emulate his exemplary life.

The Divisional Police Officer, CSP Benjamin Ayeni, also lauded the impact of the new headquarters, noting a significant reduction in criminal activity within the last six months. “Kidnapping and robbery have been curbed. We are also working on initiatives to address domestic violence by engaging couples and community structures,” he said, while appreciating religious and traditional leaders for their role in sustaining peace across Epe.
“This administration will continue to deliver projects that uplift our people and support commerce across Epe,” he assured.
Community leaders, security stakeholders, and residents hailed the project as a major milestone, describing it as a testament to purposeful representation and a catalyst for deeper collaboration between the people and the police in advancing peace and prosperity within Epe Division.
