In a remarkable feat, kakalistiq.com reports that students from Epe Girls, a Lagos public senior secondary school, have made history by emerging as the 4th Runner-up in a fiercely contested national competition featuring over 3,000 schools.
The colorful event, which seeks to promote academic excellence in mathematics and sciences, was held on Saturday, March 1st, 2025, at Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The competition, marking its 10th Anniversary Edition organized by the Maths4life Foundation International under the leadership of the President – Omoniyi Osuntuyi – saw the girls represent Epe and Lagos State, standing out as the only public senior secondary school to reach the finals.
Expressing his pride, their teacher, Mr. Yusuf Kassim, celebrated their achievement, emphasizing the significance of their performance: “Fifteen seconds is no small time. You represented not just Epe, but the entire Lagos State. I am so, so proud of you girls.”
Orimisan Keturah Testimony and Olanihun Munirat Oluwatumininu, both science students in SS3 represented the school and were closer to clinch the star prize. Their outstanding performance highlights the potential and brilliance within Nigeria’s public education system, proving that determination and hard work can compete on any stage.
